One of the actors at the local community theatre was a creeper

And another was a 20-something who was dating a teen

Teen graduated HS, went to college, released a series of youtube videos about the men who abused/harassed her at the playhouse

Those two - the ones who had actual allegations - were pretty roundly condemned

Actor, however, didn't do a damn inappropriate touch or statement to anybody

And he's been furloughed for five months due to Covid

SO he's guilty of...being around scumballs and not knowing this was going on?

and these kids are enjoying some righteous high to.. what? Cancel him for not making a FB post?

That's insane

Apparently Girl had told him some things under making him swear not to tell

And eventually, he told her that he couldn't handle it anymore

and since he didn't break her confidence, he's Guilty

Not a mandated reporter, not trained

Wait, so the very girl who did the video told him not to tell anyone, made him swear. He swears. And now ..is the Girl one of the ones wanting him punished now? And if not, can she come to his defense for just keeping his word?

The girl named him for "not helping"

and - I saw this shit play out back in june

She actually even posted that she shouldn't have named him on her list, since he didn't hurt anyone

but blood in the water

I feel sorry for this guy a LOT now.

it is profoundly unfair

He's a sweetheart, but also very non-confrontational so I can see why he'd want to be hands off a sticky drama sit

And while Girl was abused, and I believe her, she also talks about ways she, as fucking teenager, hid what was going on and lied to her parents, and made choices that consequentially made it harder for others to know what was happening or to intervene

I know it sounds close to victim blaming, which I'm not. Creeper asshole was asshole.

But sometimes, you can see bad stuff going on and not know how or be able to help

Oh she got taken advantage of and sounds like she got scared.

Yeah, I am glad she's away from a place with bad memories, and I'm glad she's seeking therapy

But now we have these Drama Warriors who weren't involved at all picking up a banner

Yup. I know the term witch hunt gets over used, but there's a reason it comes to mind

And man, I want to be real frank with the kids and be like - do you understand how precarious the department's very existence is right now?

I am a bit worried about you in this..yes.

I have known Actor for six years. If I believed for a SECOND he might be a threat...

but it seems like nobody actually thinks that, just that, again, he didn't sufficiently perform on Facebook

Smarmy Student asked if we were worried about "media backlash" over casting him
