Hm...I have Close Encounters on. It must be a remastered version...it looks terribly clear, to the point that it no longer looks like things were filmed outside, but rather in a studio. (The opening desert scenes, for example.)

I noticed the same problem with 1776 the last time I saw it. Annoying.
