It's a spice cake that the primary flavor comes from mace, which is an all-spicy/nutmeggy flavor.

I did not have mace, but I had a sample baggie of a coffee spice mix with cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, allspice, mace, and maybe soemething else in it

I used that instead, and I'm sure it will be "okay", but it may suffer from not having the strong spice flavor of the single spice
