I am hoping Auberta doesn't come across as too bitchy. She's a teenager so gonna be slightly self absorbed, but mostly she's offended by how badly the world seems to work

BTW, D, I like your character-intro-story-start. I didn't have the keyboard to say. I would point out that you're setting her up with a lot of recent upheavals, which is fine! (Tension=story) but balance all the changes with her age. It depends on where you want to take things, and you can re-write if you figure out you're going down a less-productive road. If she starting High School ON TOP of all the changes, or is she CHANGING High Schools on top of all the changes?

I was thinking changing schools. Two weeks after others etc.

Exactly. She's VERY advanced for middle school, methinks, but a transferring Freshman or Soph? Yeah.

A lot of her time will be at a magic castle in a magic word, but I do need to give her some crappy moments at school...and maybe a good life lesson hidden in places
