I keep hearing praise for that show. Something about how one doesn't have to be crazy about baking Or an Angophile to enjoy the folks in the show themselves

Well, I'm a fan, so I tend to agree...although I like the earlier seasons better than the recent ones.

OMG, I'm watching this process...they're grilling each layer of color, like one pancake cooked on top of another...and then the combined layers get sliced into these long wedges to fit together to make the pattern...it's wacky.

ok, so Joker was... an experience

the film is incredibly technically proficient

when I talk about script analysis with my kids, I saw we need to answer three questions to proceed with development

dramaturgical, intellectual, & aesthetic

the first: WHAT is the story we want to tell

then: WHY do we want to tell it?

and only then: HOW do we present this story to the audience?

I feel like they started and ended at aesthetic

knocked it out of the park there, but...

I think it did not clearly examine how it presented the Joker

It is one thing if a character feels that he is a victim of society, and is therefore not responsible for his actions

society "made" him do it

but the movie rather waffles between this being the opinion of the unreliable narrator, and that, well, poor-me joker is a victim
