Well, there's ALSO always the chance that one or more was lost.... and their family might find them and want them back!

Shelter dogs actually... got the idea for much of this from a real life person who goes to shelters in flood zones and helps them out

Peter Parker decided that the bottom-feeder pellets were interesting toys to pick up and drop, or push around on the gravel

Snips (the shrimp) wanted to EAT his pellets that the betta decided were toys

Peter Parker then made Anger Fish displays at the shrimp!
