Oh golly. Well each season is self contained, the cast and characters shump over to a different time period each season. If I had to recommend just one season, the 4th is considered the best and takes place in The Great War. Each season is great though, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie are in multiple seasons and Brian Blessed steals the show in season 1
