Earl is very happy himself. His career is doing well. He's got the girl he adores most in the world. His family is more accepting.

Zara still might not quite get WHY Earl is so smitten, but...

well, while not a traditional beauty, she is a good person, funny, scary smart, and they share some common interests. She's gregarious by sluagh standards, but reserved enough that she understands his own (For a troll) introverted nature. She's quite kind, and she believes in him. I think Earl would be startled to learn it isn't obvious to her 😉
