Yeah...Brekke and several others were off on a quest in the Dreaming...and were gone a lot longer than expected. Kerri and Frank went to Count Hemlock to ask what could be done to secure the 'Hold in the absence of the Chieftain/Baroness....and Hemlock said essentially, "Oh, hey, great idea. Take a knee, Kerri." And made her Lady Kerri on the spot, without so much as a by-your-leave. Very distressing for her.

Re: outside perspective -- Sparrow's insecure and feels a need to prove her honor. She's a) in a house that's often maligned as having no honor, b) lacking in a position that would facilitate opportunities to prove her honor, and c) her best connections aren't really in a great position to help her. Also, she's just not the kind of person who could shrug off her situation with a laugh and a "Oh, who cares, I'll have fun and handle things as they come up!" She's not a Gaston.
