I'm in a web conference with a guy trying to sell us on his merchant processing software, and he's trying to mansplain what a plugin is to me

asking if I have "a guy, like an IT guy, at the office who can help me with the technical parts"

He might as well call me "lil' lady" and ask if the man of the house is here

Once before I was in a conference with a client who is a furniture supplier, and as he described some of the categories that he would need his website to filter, he paused, leaned over to me specifically, and said "Y'see, that there's like a secretary's desk."

Well, being condescended to sets me off so sympathies

This seems to happen when we're working with the owners of some of these companies, they don't know anything about the technology and they are the president but don't run anything, but insist on blustering through the process instead of letting us handle it

I always want to go, "Listen. I don't tell you how to (build pump flanges for brewery tubs). Let us handle building your website. It's what you hired us for. We are good at it. Just trust us."

"But, y'see, I have a brother's nephew's cousin's friend who does websites, and HE says I need THIS."

What's that saying about free advice being seldom cheap? 🙂
