How do you portray a -7 to Social Rolls?

Now, what Lex suggested was....MAKE people sense it. If someone is walking, describe them as 'skulking' in a suspicious manner.

Make everything they say seem somehow off, threatening, perverse....etc.

(Like the pooka we see in Firnost, Fleur.) Make people assume your intentions are bad.

The times when I HAVE, you almost get a character lynched.

Here's the question. A character can have good intentions and still come across badly. But is it up to the player to portray that, or others to take it into account and do the mental work themselves?

I DO try to play it appropriately.

It just makes it hard to interact with them if you do! And then you get pissy (I do, anyway) at the ones who don't, because you're the only one doing it.

Re-naming him Hitler might be a start.

You have to be careful telling folks HOW they feel. If I got a satyr with the sex appeal merit and a high Ap, and posted in the Desc "Your legs get weak, your toes curl, your breath comes up short" it would piss folks off even if that was likely. Because you know, it takes away control over THEIR character. So I can't blame them

I don't think they have a right to complain, honestly.

If that is how it is supposed to work? If they don't play it, they're....well, not RP'ing correctly, simple as that.

Like the cantrip Haunted Heart, they don't get to decide how they want their characters to feel.

Or sidhe Awe. If you just go, "Meh. Not impressed." Then they need their faces rubbbed into it, frankly.

Sorry if it sounds harsh, but it's a real peeve of mine when people ignore birthrights like that because they want their characters to be 'brave' without the stats to back it up.

Maybe, but if you get too specific you start to control even how they react and that's a bit much. IMO.

Hm. So maybe saying instead, "He's the kind of guy who makes straight women's (and some not so straight) ...toes curl, and hearts to pound, there's something in his scent that is redolent of musk and bedroom pleasures...." it gets it across without the 'you' of it? And then if they don't react, scratch them off the list? 🙂
