why unseelie?

Or maybe it's something specific to Earl?

Not so much betrayal as feeling that the Seelie code is lying to him. True love hasn't conquered all. He has seen beauty of craft perverted for evil. And he tries to be honorable and wheels spin in the mud

Well, I am not sure if the ST wanted them to go back, so had August order it, or if August was just being played like August.

I think August was just being a sidhe in the dreaming. And, Earl was pushing for 'go back and keep hirim safe' bit too

Either way, he lost all his cache with Ice, like Simon did when he threatened to use Sovereign.

Yeah. And -- not sure if you caught it, but Hirim gave Ice a look just before he keeled over.

So Ice -knew- something was up.

Z was already spiralling by then

And the only thing he could think of -- the -practical- thing -- was make Hirim talk.

Because if they went back, they would get nothing.

Zara wasn't being helpful, he figured. 🙂

Yeah, Earl caught on, but for him, getting Hirim back was priority one.

Yeah. But Ice figured sending Zara with Hirim would solve it.

Now inertia will set in, and no one will want to go back -- Ice figures.

Why bother?

Well, for Earl it was "Zara has the right to face the danger. No more lying to her, no more leaving her out." And she wasn't in a state where she was herself to decide to go with Hirim or after Miriam. So it felt like breaking what he told her. And Hirim couldn't go alone because even if he was faking some of it, he wasn't in the best shape and MIGHT get lost again

Miriam has "her work," and that's all that matters, right?

Zara has no one to blame but herself for shoving Ice at gunpoint towards the Seelie border.

Zara is... not very strong willed, even if she can dig in her heels at times. Next to Ice, or the Liam, or the troll...
