Emerson seems agitated, irritated, his groove cut off... but he has free tickets to a magician show so calls his wife. From what BOGGAN emerson can guess.. she doesn't seem aware her husband is on the take so to speak

Seeking not to disturb even the air with his motion, William drifts closer to observe the man's desk; any clues as to his personal life.

It takes a bit. but with the phone number of home, and a personal card for email....

mm married, but no children. A picture of the man's wife indicates she's quite lovely... a few years younger. Lives in a decent part of town, which apparently is not good enough for S.T. He wants to move up.

A faint smile, unseen. Pity, you simply picked the wrong Club.

Soon, adress, contact info, and more... he notices S.T. is heading home early to catch that magician act.

William waits until Emerson is gone, picks up any items from the office that seem promising, and bustles out. He drops the veil on the way and heads for his car to wait a Emerson's curb a few doors down.

Does he try to beat Emerson home or show up slightly after?

If possible, before, but not at the risk of attracting attention. If a wait is involved, he spends it flipping through a nightlife magazine or two, looking for magic acts.

Oh he finds the locale... 'The Magician's Gambit' he's heard of it.

"Hmmph." A sour chuckles.

And yes, he sees the house. For a single couple, quite middle class. Not entirely secure. He suspects a key is i nthat potted plant

No dogs , at least not outside.

"Well, my boy, take your lady on a last outing. I need a bit of time to play."

And indeed, he pulls up, walks in, and his wife comes out. She ends on his arm, it all looks rather sweet.

William waits patiently. He's got time.

Mr. Calvert is not normally strong with S.T. Wiliam could read that much. Hard to say if Emerson will be reigned in at work or not. But.. yes, time.

Snoop at the house.

BIC: that turns out to be a breeze to get into, unproductive to really get much dirt at least as far as wrong doing.

He spends his time looking for evidence, yes, but also seeking to get to know the couple. Bathroom cabinets. Nightstands. Back and top of closets. Freezers. So on.

Mmmm Mr. Emerson wants to live beyond his means... and now that he's got this cushy money maker is slowly letting the means catch up. There are pictures of a high rise condo for sale he is considering but never could dream of before. Now what catches him off guard is for all his striving for wealth, his wife seems less interested in it. She enjoys it, but judging by the erotica she has hidden, her fantasy lovers in fiction actually vary from brutish bikers , crime lords, and other bad boys.

A slow smile. "Hmmmm......"

Ain't that the truth. But it does enhance the fact mr. Emerson came from humbler beginnings and is determined never to go back.

the status climbing is for his sake. Not hers.

William shakes his head. Greed is fine, my boy, greed, as the man said, works. But don't -lie- to yourself about your motivations.

And there is the problem. S.T. has bought into his own hype.

Well then. William thinks as he relocks the backdoor and replaces the key. We just need to examine that purchase together.

And out he slips. The question comes to mind how much should he tell CC? SHe had already said no need , her annoyance passed. Satyrs burn hot and cool fast. HE however is not a satyr.. and , if honest with his own motivations, there are seflish reasons for William to do this.

Of course there are. He muses. I'm a selfish creature and he offended my sensibilities. He starts the car and heads for Magician's Gambit.

The Magician's Gambit is a club in need of a boggan. But then, isn't every club when you think about it? Various magicians perform their work on different nights with different themes. For the most part, top hats and tuxedos are gone, replaced by gothic garb and outfits that look like what British Pop stars might wear. Getting in isn't hard, the cover fee is light if he even chooses to pay.

Whimsically, he pays the fee and wanders around. Any familiar faces?

A few of the acts he recognizes by rep, but not many familar faces, hardly any really. he thinks he recognizes a college student serving drinks.

He looks to see if his namesake is still here, and orders a craft beer.

Oh at one of the 'good tables' that was reserved for him.

There we are. He watches.

The interaction is too easy for a boggan's eyes. Mr. 'Emerson' enjoys the power over the situation, and makes notes. Looking not just as the magic, but the decor, the staff, every little thing... he's looking not for quality, but faults.

Indeed. The best act actually is a rabbit pooka! A natural magician with a gift for making the ordinary sound magical.

Of course, the mortal doesn't see the ears on the fellow... but he does seem mystified by the tricks unable to even guess how some work. Still, he lets it slide.. makes notes. His wife adorees it

She really does love magicians.

Bit of an eyebrow at that. Perhaps there's something there to salvage? Although, to what profit.... He muses.

Finally the show winds down.. the owner visits the couple... and when the wife slips out to powder her nose. Well, S.T. and the owner talk.

William frowns in mild frustration. Why have we no Art that will enhances our senses!

At least boggan senses do not fail him.. there's a deal underway. The owner is offended, pissed off, but also? cowed and willing to push back for advantage ... ah, blackmail... fine, blackmail, but I want praise...
