Room 216 at the Necropolis Arms is set for a hasty tea, but a -boggan- hasty tea, so it's still pretty good.

Precisely at tea-time, neither early nor late, comes a gentle rap on the door.

.... which is opened smartly with a genial smile. "So good of you to come."

"Mister Stodgepole. I brought macaroons!"

"Delightful! Come in, come in...." He bustles around, taking things and settling them. "Take a seat, please....."

Zara settles in the appropriate chair, taking a moment to smooth her grey skirt.

He joins her. "How have you been, my dear?"

"Truthfully? Quiet. Study, and tending to Bronte, and spending time with loved ones. I fear it is dreadfully domestic and dull."

"I have not been in threat of my life in months."

He laughs, soft but delighted. "Oh dear. I understand how disappointing that can be. Well, perhaps later we can change that. Shall I play mother?"

"Tis the honor of the host, is it not?"

He nods graciously and does just that.

"Who is Bronte? I thought you were seeing that DeBuke boy...."

"Oh! You must meet her, she is a delight. Technically, she's Earl's... but, well.." A little shrug. "Bronte is a baby bookwyrm. A literary dragonet."

"Oh my, how delightful! She sounds charming. I've read of such things, never met one."

"It was good fortune. Though, truth, a fair amount of that Samhain is fuzzy... we did wind up with an egg."

"Aaaahhhh.... a Samhain dragon." A thin but smug smile.

She raises an eyebrow.

"The most wonderful time of the year." He explains. "In my opinion."

"Well, I do enjoy Samhain. But I appreciate Beltaine, too. Balance." A sip of tea. "Though the winter holidays ARE better."

"Indeed." Darkly satisfied.

A soft chuff. "Aye."

OOC Can do! EBG has no plans, didn't want to step on hers, but I suppose the point is that it's a LONG day....

"And, growing closer and closer, now."

Sip.

"The downward swing, so to speak. From summer to fall... you know, it's a pity we demonize the idea of "autumn" so."

" 'We' do? Well, I suppose." He serves tea-treats.

"We, the fae. Fall is my favorite season...." A wistful sigh, eyelids dipping. "The blaze of leaves and the cere grass and the rain..."

".... longer nights...."

"That too."

"The sun... well, I do not cast aspersion at Apollo, but I much prefer his sister. She is kinder, and more subtle."

"True. Easier to work by, as well."

"She is a friend." Zara smiles.

"I think it may be a cruel irony that I am summer-born..."

"But, oh! It falls on a friday this year!" A sudden grin. "The one consolation to being a July babe was being born on the thirteenth."

"Always a silver lining." He agrees cheerfully. "Now, do you have everything here you care for?" He peers at her plate and cup.

She nods. "As always, you are an impeccable host. The cucumbers are lovely."

"I did need to dumpster dive just a bit, somewhat short notice. My fault, entirely."

She tilts her head. "Yet you invited. Why such haste?"

"Ah, well... the crux. To business?" He brushes crumbs from his place fastidiously.

She nods. "To business."

He sips his tea, sets it down. "Would you be available for commission? I have a bit of investigation that would be cumbersome to undertake directly."

She sits up. "Aye? I might be, yes. For the right price."

"Well then....." He rubs his hands together, leaning forward. "It is a bit of surveillance, observation, and such .... acquisition as you feel appropriate on a female Sidhe of House Dougal."
