He exhales, reluctant, but says. "Count Jude of Ardent Harbor." Then, more reluctantly. "He's helped Jess before."

She frowns. "I know th'name...but I thought you said a Duke...?"

OOC Crap. Stand by.

Brightens. "But still, yeah, think I met th' guy. An' he on her side a'ready...."

OOC: Okay.

OOC Ok, Need to adjust those posts to Count, if we can? My bad, totally. It was late. *Sheepish*

"You know, Tweak...." Slowly.... "Jess has met the Count. She could ask herself."

A sigh. "Yeah...she could. You think she likely to?" She gives him a measuring look. "I askin' for him to consider somepin I don' think she likely to ask for herself. Jus' need an in, y'know?"

"Has anyone suggested it to her?" He lifts an eyebrow. "Jess is pragmatic. She looks for the most logical positive solution. She might not -like- it... but she'll consider it."

A long, silent look, then she folds her arms and frowns. "You bailin' on me."

"I am not." Folding his own. "Bailing on you would be bailing on Jess. I'll get a message to the Count. I just think I'd like to respect Jess as well."

"Huh." He's thinking.

"I know.... I know some other Liam I could ask, see if there's someone higher than Count Jude I could ask."

"An' I jus' give you a whole rig-load of reasons why I ain' tell her yet. "

"But that takes longer."

"Nah. You right, she know this Jude guy. Best bet, prolly."

"Ok."

He sighs. "Ok. I'll send a message."

The energy has gone out of her posture.

"Nah. Don' bother." She starts for the door. "I weren't here. We ain't talked."

"Tweak, what the heck??"

She turns and shrugs expansively. "Th' fuck, Rigger, I don' know. I come here cuz it feel like th' right thing t' do, lay the fuckin' foundation if the ground'll hold it at all....but you got me feelin' like I being some sorta...I dunno, backstabber."

He chuckles, amused, regarding the nocker... fondly? "You're good people, Tweak. Unseelie, but good people. You -are- going behind her back."

"Your intentions are good, though. You want to help."

"I got her back, ain' holdin' a blade to it."

"You have to consider how -she-... how -other- people will see it, though. Sometimes. Sometimes, you have to do what you have to do. Tell you what...." He's thinking aloud. "I'll -go- to Count Jude. Talk to him. Like you say, lay a foundation, introduce the idea. If she comes to him afterwards....."

"Meanwhile, you talk to her?"

"Look...you gots to unnerstand....if they convinces her that 'the right thing' for the holding is to let it go to somebody else jus' cause they gots a house...she gonna cave an' do it. You know that ain't right. We gotta break that cycle."

She frowns, skeptical. "I wanna be th'one to 'splain to him. You gonna say it wrong."

"Tweak, are you saying -we- go to Count Jude?"

"Yup."

"Ok. But for what it's worth, -I- think Jess would only 'cave' to it, if she really thought it was best for everyone."

"Oh, no doubt! Hell, Rigger, if there be a way to get her to keep th' place without she gotta change rank or house or fuckin' hair style or whatever, I'll take it!"

"You would?"

"'Course! She doin' fine like she be! She doin' 'xactly what she need t'do. But...these folks what buy into th' whole court game, th' whole house game...long as she jus' a knight an' she ain' got no house, they gonna come droolin' an' ready to take what be hers."

"But I ain' okay with that fuckin' Regent nonsense. Cuz Fenix be hers by right."

He hrmphs, then looks "Regent?"

He shakes his head. "Ok. -We- will talk to Count Jude. I can call you at Fenix?"

"Here..." She fishes out her cellphone, pulls down her goggles, and calls up her number on the screen...turns it to him.

"Perfect situation? Jude jus' come down an' wave his fuckin' magic wand or whatever an' jus' make it happen without she know you an' me had a hand in it at all."

Frank pulls out some paper and a pencil, jots it down. His hands are scarred, rougher than she might remember. "You don't think she'd find that suspicious?"

"If it save th' hold? She might not care how." Pause. "Okay, she gonna care how. I jump off that bridge when it gets shoved onto it." She nods at his hands. "Th' fuck happen to you?"

He looks at his hands. "This? Oh, years ago. Mission went bad. Got captured, which also went bad."

"Ended up, Jess found Brekke, they both came to the Dreaming, Jess Chrysalized there. They found me, we all got out."

She takes a minute to process that. "Wait...wait...she done put on th' blue suit for the first time in th' Dreamin'? Fuck...that musta been somepin."
