Etsie is playing guitar, but someone else is singing. Sylvi knows this because the voice is male.. .and.. familiar?

She tries to identify the voice as she follows the sound. She doesn't want to interrupt, but it sounds good.

She stands outside the studio window, a hand over her mouth and her eyes wide with surprise.

The recording stops, and Olgar looks at Etsie "Just tell me I didn't suck"

She laughs "You didn't suck"

Sylvi knocks on the window and mouths You didn't suck. She still looks shocked, though.

"Hey" He opens the door and exits the studio "HOw you doing? "

"Well, I'm kind of amazed at the moment. I didn't know you wanted to record!"

"Also, Hi!" She gives him a big hug. "Glad you're back home."

"Hey, Etsie!" She peeks around her dad to wave to the satyr.

Etsie grins "You two have fun. I'm going out to get a burger. Want me to bring you back something, Sylvi? Your dad is married to a hearth so I'm less worried about him"

"oh that recording's just for your mom" Olgar hugs her back "Thought she'd get a kick out of it. That was the first song I ever sang on Karokee on a date we went. She challenged me to get up there and sing a 'song from the heart'... so I sang that one. She rolled her eyes hard but Icould tell she liked it"

"Some onion rings would be great, if you don't mind. A large. I'll share with you, Dad." Even with access to Hearth cooking, sometimes ya just gotta have some deep-fried fast food.

"You got it" Etsie smiles and slips out

She laughs at Olgar's story. "Okay, I can so totally see that. Did you make her sing after that?"

"No one really MAKES your mom do anything but I did call her a chicken and told her it was her turn" A grin "Subltle as a brick your dad. She went up there anyway"

"What'd she sing?"

"Take a guess" He smiles

"Dad...that was way before I was born! I don't know what you old people sang back then." She gives him a sassy wink.

Snort "GOOD Music, real music" He winks back, then says "Your mom sang 'Youre so Vain' making me laugh, then, stayed on the stage and tore my heart out with 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'." a fond memory "Least I think that's how it went down and unless you ask her, you'll have to take my side as gospel. Fun night. I wouldn't say either of us would win any awards, but at the time I sure thought everyone's eyes were on her"

Sylvi makes a mental note to find both of those songs and listen to them sometime. "I bet they were. Do you guys still do karaoke when you go out?"

"Huh, no , not really. " He says after thinking it over. Silver Roads to tend to and guard for him, A hearth to guide and provide for with Kerri, then the baby came, and going out for such frivlious things became rarer. He still took Kerri out to dinner and places, but ... he cannot remember the last time they tried a Karoke again "Huh."

"Dad...you totally should," she advises. "You both deserve some fun time."

"mmm it's not a bad idea. Probably surprise your mother, hopefully in a pleasant way."

"Well, maybe give her that recording first? And then after she's had a chance to hear it and reminisce, then suggest going out?"

"Or drive her away from it forever, " A smile "But it'll be resolved. Sure. Hey, but enough about you helping match make me and your mom, which I might point out has already been a success before you were born, how are you doing?"

"You can't blame me for investing in a sure thing," she laughs. Then a more sober shrug. "I'm okay. Classes start Tuesday, so...y'know, stressy. And...um...not sure if Mom told you...?"

"She did" he's not going to lie about that now that she inquires "She told me you and Colton had a talk. Must have been awkward even if it went well as such things CAN go"

"Yeahhhh...." A heavy exhale. "That wasn't fun. And I texted him to arrange to pack up my stuff, and he's like all cold."

"I mean, I can't really blame him, but..." a shrug "Not fun."

"Nah. Sorry, hun. In some ways it's a troll thing, particularly for seelie ones. Retreat to duty. He doesn't mean to be an ass I suspect, just he's... he needs a bit of distance and is falling onto what's required as a haven. I can't say it's smart of that it works but it's not atypical of trolls, or guys for that matter. You want me to pick up your stuff for you? Just an offer"

"He said he'd have it sent down...." She trails off.

"Oh"

"I'll save him the stamp or trouble" A nod

"I gotta patrol around closer trods anyway" He says as if it's no big deal "I'll be honest with you, I was tired of Willows. "

"Um, then I'll give you something before you go. Something I have to get back to him," she says. "Was Willows really bad?" she says, glad for a change of topic.

"Sure, " At the first part then "Well, depends on how bad is bad. King Meilge lives in that area and he put some resources behind fixing things up, but I can't say I liked all his methods. House Balor may be parlaying this into some political gains. . so technically a lot got salvaged and folks are safe again, but not sure of the full cost. And before then? Yeah, it was bad. We got a lot of kithain who were on the wheel sooner htan they should have. Most that survived and found are homed now, shaken. Willows Rovers numbers took a hit, but we also had a rush of recruits step up in the last few weeks. Heck, I'm helping train Eulalie DeBuke. That girl's so eager to prove herself she's giving me a rash, but she's got potential"

"Eulalie went Rover? Cool!" About the rest, she gives him a hug. "I'm glad you're there to help fix things the right way, Dad."

He hugs her back "I'm glad you're good with it, honey. Frankly I felt a bit like I let you down. With you going to Rutgers I was gonna do some Daughter Father events ... you khnow, make you listen to old music, we'd go on some road trip where I cooed over the biggest ball of twine while you despereately hit your cellphone hoping for reception"

A wry grin. "That woulda been nice. But...it's okay. I mean, it's not like the first time I've been away from home," she points out practically.

"And I'm not even going to be all that far."

"Like an hour away" He nods "Better check the oil on your car and stuff. Not to be 'that parent' but I hope you visit on some weekends. You're rooming with Symon and Dagmar huh?"

"Yeah. And I plan to be back a lot. After all," she gestures to the building they're in, "I've got a freehold to keep an eye on. Um...would you mind checking out my car before I go? Just to be sure."

He may get the sense that she's giving him a gift, there.

"Don't mind" he says and even rubs his hands as if looking forward to it. And he is. He's grateful for a chance to help his daughter in some way and this is a way. Also he wants the best for her so it's probably getting new tires not that he'll tell her that "Any trouble with how it's handling?"

"I mean, it's squeaky? But it runs." She goes to get something from a table in the hallway where she dropped her backpack. It's something wrapped in a small paper bag. "When you head up to DarkGate, can you give this back to him?" Then a guilty grin. "Sorry...you just got back and I'm giving you stuff to do."

"It's nice to still be useful, kiddo. " A smile "One of those languages of love men are allowed to express without being shamed for it .. but let's not get me started on the causes of toxic masculinity. "

"Got your food here!" A voice calls out from the kitchenette microwave area

She gives him a big hug. "I love you too, Dad."
