Siv enters in after a patrol, and looks, and listens.

In her arm is a large note book...

She doesn't hear her lady playing, so she heads down the steps towards the fire

"Whoa, easy there, Mic, almost tripped over you"

The cat looks up closely from the step he was on

closely and cluelessly

She bends down and pets him with her free hand, "awwww, who's a cute little derp? you are." stroke stroke, and then she moves on

She's almost to the bottom of the steps when she overhears, back upstairs. It's not music, no, but it IS Piper. Her tone is irate.

She turns around, and starts to head back up, careful to avoid Mic as she at least knows he's there

"Rassle-frassin shadow-sneaking busy-body know-it-all..." She is irate as she rattles around in one of the storage closets.

And Siv approaches "Well, I try not to pry too much"

Piper whirls around, and almost chucks whatever she has at hand at Siv - luckily it's just a box of microphone covers, soft and light, but still - she sees who it is, and drops it back onto the stack. "Siv, you startled me."

"Sorry, what's wrong?"

"Symon was here. And he was being weirder than usual." She scowls.

She tries to move a stack of boxes that block her way to a closet, and huffs as she fails to budge them.

"Here, please, let me. Hold onto this" She hands her the note book if she'll take it, and handles the boxes "Symon ... busy body? What did he pry into?"

"My personal business. My musician friends. And Adam, of all people." Piper sighs and takes the notebook. "Thanks, love."

"What's this?"

"That," She answers because it's better than bringing up Adam again "is Census of the Firnostian Parliment and all those who were ever registered to vote. Organized by Kith. THough I might find a mention of your bio mother there"

"Oh... oh!" She blinks, and hugs the book to her chest carefully. "But we don't know what kith she was. I mean, probably a satyr, just based on genetics, right?"

"Assuming that she wasn't kinain, or someone's dreamer..."

Piper is COMPLETELY distracted form her earlier chain of thought. Score, Siv!

"Well she wouldn't be going into Firnost without a sponsor if she was kinain... but I figured yeah, female Satyress is most likely? I did some reading and somehow I don't see anything quite fit. Lady Kathy is out"

"Oh, lord. Even I've heard about her."

A snerk

"But anyway I got the records, don't ask how, and I thought you might go over in your copius free time?" Amused

"Free time... where do you get THAT idea? I may have just, um... well, the thing is, I saw these instruments at the flea market and..." She fills Siv in.

"So now I need to get the ledgers of the students that were in those classes, see if we can find the cash to cover another tutor, and work out with Sylvi if it's even OKAY to start this venture, and I hope it is, because the check already cleared and if it's NOT okay, I'm eating Violins and Trumpets for the next six months."

"Oh Piper, Uhm.. I got a little money" she starts to acess "Maybe could cover both parts of our rent..."

"No, NO." She shakes her head. "This was my idea, let me handle it - please? I'm juggling things, but I think I have all the balls in the air still. This could be really good for Goldfinch if it works out."

"I.. .. " A mmmph "Could I help a LITTLE bit?"

Piper wavers, "Could you pick up my end of the grocery budget? Just through September..."

"HEck, as much as I raid Aunt Kerri's fridge that's asking for nothing"

"See, she's YOUR aunt, you can get away with that."

"Oh Aunt Kerri likes you fine" A mmph "Heck, you've even won over mum and da I think. That slight quiver of their upper lips sometimes when they see you? THat.. that's a smile"

"well, yeah, but I'm still not at "free raid kitchen" level."

"No one is COMPLETELY on the Free raid kitchen level, I mean, somethings are mARKED off limits and you do not cross those if you ever want a meal there again"

"That said," She looks at her "Mmm yeah, I can cover your food bills"

"Well, it's the budget for the three of us." She reminds her. "That includes Jonas's shopping lists. It's funny, I like the fancy cheese just FINE in dinner, but when I'm at the store, I start thinking, 'is the discount Velveeta really that bad?"

"Oh dear" She laughs

"I'm just glad you're not anti Dairy. Price of meat as it is though does feel like your vegan ways are onto something" Then a pause "By the way, what's.. Corn smut?"

She has cracked the book and paged to the section with Satyrs.

"Demi Di'Angelo... Evelyn Sylvan... Roni Tsolis... Gertrude Harris... Mercedes Colomar... Katie Kaspar... Kerri Devons... Lady Kathy... Mehrunnissa... Moonshadow - Moonshadow? Really? ...Samatha Hart... Torianna... Carmen Morales... Natira Gilden... Sassy - wasn't that the name of the cat from The Incredible Journey? ... I'm NEVER going to have time to look into all of these satyresses! And these are just the ones that signed up to VOTE?"

"YUP" Siv nods "I can look into it for you now and then if you like?"

"But YOU have spymaster duties, AND a mortal job. Speaking of which, are they keeping you on a the Marina through the winter?"

"Ah..." A pause "No, I'll be getting reduced hours soon for fall"

"Reduced isn't bad. Don't they have work you can do year round? Like... maintenance, making sure all the boats are kept up and ready for spring?"
