As she talks, she sees Dirk swing in

Sylvi waves to Dirk as she finishes that last text, and goes over to him. "You okay?"

"it's what I was gonna ask you. Goldfinch all right? If so I can hit back on patrol"

"I've got a family here..." she pauses to mouth mortals "...and I've told them they're welcome to stay put for now. Otherwise, everything seems okay. I'm just about to text Piper, make sure she's somewhere secure."

She's sending that text to Piper as she speaks: Shooting in area, you someplace safe?

"Well, Siv and Jonas are out and about in different areas so... she might be waiting it out in their appartment while they risk their necks. PIper will be grousing about them from worry. " He snorts "Not that tro... tall people need much protection"

"Yeah, us tall people have an advantage," she says with a grin. Then a grumble as she looks out a window. "I feel like I ought to be out there, but...I need to be here, because people."

"Hey, after Otto got shot and Alisa came in wounded, she got stuck with phone police at the lodge" He does lower his voice in case of mortals "So you're not alone in that. Sides, it helps in one other way. I got another place to funnel any childlings on the street"

"Absolutely. You see 'em, you get 'em in here. Safe space."

"Sam's gotta be freaking out if she can't find Connor" A grin "if she catches the guy behind this she'll take both his legs and make a wish. Hope I get to him first"

"She was about to check at the...big house. Oh, can you check Jaymes' store? Make sure everything's clear there?"

"Yeah sure" he nods "Anywhere else on the way?"

"Well, I'm assuming you made sure your own home is safe."

"Yeah. Nothing goes near that house without Symon seeing it or hearing it or both. Bro's a pain in my ass, but he'd slit a throat if someone tried to hurt someeone in there"

"Right," she nods. "Okay, then...I think most people have their own turf covered, but maybe check on MacGillicuddy and May? Even if you only catch sight of them from a distance."

"McGillicudy? This guy's targeting kids, not mean old bags of dust"

"Fair enough. She never comes out of that house much, anyway." She shakes her head. "You know what you're doing."

"I'll check on May's fam like you said. And don't worry, this guy has us pissed. We're all on him. He's going down"

"Yeah." She shifts her spear restlessly in her hands, but nods. "Stay safe, okay?"

"Nope. Gonna get in trouble. And dude better hope I don't catch him first" A hungry grin, and he goes

The fire , small but fierce flares. And Sylvi is reminded of a phrase from some poem or something 'They also serve: Those who stand and wait'
