Jess's expression is, perhaps, wistful. "One of the best cooks I know used to say that a lot of basic lessons can be learned in the kitchen. Wash your hands, make sure you have what you need before you start, and follow instructions. She would say the world would be a better place if everyone did just those three things."

"She's not wrong" Madern nods "The kitchen is a microcosm of community, all good things seem to come from it, even lessons." A smile "And whoever the cook is, she sounds dope."

"She is."

"I should get back to the investigation"

"Want a partner? Someone local, knows which alleys not to lurk in?"

"And you can make sure I"m not up to anything too sneaky ?" A chuckle "Sure if you wish"

"Phobos, can you find our friend a partner? Someone streetwise."

"Mmm Sir Jack maybe? I can give him a call to drop back here and pick the guy up?"

"Sounds good."

Phobos nods and texts on his phone

"Sir Jack?" Madern asks

"He's a good man. Street knight."

"Good to have a pro then" Madern nods

Sir Jack does show up, trench coat fluttering

"Sir Jack." she stands and offers her hand.

He takes it "Jessica, is this important? I really want this ravager."

Madern looks up, then feels the air "You're a Liam?"

"I know you do, Sir, and I'm glad you're here. Capture, not kill. Are we clear?" she asks evenly, ignoring Madern's question for the moment.

"Clear," Jack answers "I want answers anyway so... easier to get that way"

Madern blinks "Ahh.. yeah"

"Good, thank you Sir." then, to Madern "Yes, Sir Jack is of House Liam. Problem?"

"Nothing I can't work with " Madern assures

"You got a lead on this ravager?" Jack asks Madern.

Madern shows him the photo "Sure do."

Jess takes her seat again.

Jack nods "On it then, come on... what is your name?" Jack remembers to ask Madern

"Madern, detective with a food truck" The piskie assures

"I've heard of weirder" Jack says "We'll keep you posted, Jessica" ANd off the street knight and the piskie go

"Thank you, both."

"All part of the job" Maderns' voice can be heard down the hall

Phobos looks around, "Doesn't look like he stole anything"

"Let's make a note he's invited here, and make allowances."

"Sure thing, we can always shake him by his boots everytime he starts to leave if you want"

"No, not necessary." Jess reserves ("Not yet.") but....

"You take a lot of fun out of being a redcap, boss. I barely get to bully anyone" He gives a great white shark like grin

Jess pauses and considers. "I'm... sorry, Phobos. I didn't mean to ... um, should we talk about a change?"

"I'm joking boss, I bully, just not in the hold" He assures with a smile "Mostly gringo tourists who act like they own the city. It's theraputic"

He eats more food "How you doing boss?"

"Ok. If you're sure?" She shrugs "Fine."

"I'm sure, I just worry you're feeling cooped up even on patrol"

A shrug. "It is what it is."

"Yeah, but you're allowed to bitch about it if you want" he says "We can go punch each other in the practice yard if you want, or hit dummies?"

"No, thanks. I guess I have paperwork waiting... um, unless your relief with me isn't soon?"

"Can be if you want. Demos is up next"

"Whatever the schedule is."

"Another ten minutes then" He says and asks "You going to the study then? or your room for this paperwork? If the latter I suggest you leave the door open one of us can be right outside and inview that way "

"You can be in the room." she says stolidly "It's paperwork."

He nods and follows her then to whatever room she prefers

Jess settles down to handle the paperwork. There is always paperwork.

The ten minutes passes quickly, thanks to that paper work. And Demos shows up. Unlike Phobos, he's not quite as accepting of all the title stuff, which means he respects that Jessica doesn't use it.
