Siv says "Are we going to need liquor for whatever this news is?"

She is glad she spent time by the Goldfinch balefire so she doesn't look as faded as she felt for a bit there, but lately folks have been acting 'odd' around her, and her spy sense is tingling

"Never inconvenient, mom." nonplussed, but agreeable.

"Nonsense, Jessica. There are times when visits are more welcome, and times when they are less so." Practical mom.

"I cannot say that wine would be amiss, Siv, but I would prefer coffee if possible," she finishes towards Jessica. "Is there a room where we may speak in private?"

"Sure, of course... and yes, believe me, I can't get people to stop with the refreshments. Not a bad problem to have."

"Lead on, then."

A room is set up and YES it has... refreshments.

As ever, the Fenix bog squad is ahead of the game

Siv admires "Gracias to yer folk" She takes some wine "Diego has good stuff always"

"He does."

Siv pulls a chair out for her mother and father, then takes her own

"Thank you, Siv." Brekke settles in.

Jess sees everyone seated, and takes her own. "Um.... so this ... look, are you guys ok? Rivervale? I mean......"

Brekke puts up a forestalling hand. "Rivervale is fine."

"We are both fine, as well."

"Piper is a trooper" Siv adds, "Plan is to Induce in Decemeber, but I don't know how I feel about our kids having a birthday close to Yule."

Jess nods.

Siv takes the wine and savors it slowly

"Children seldom have a good sense of timing," Brekke points out.

"Aye." Siv admits a weak smile

"And...sometimes parents are the same," Brekke continues to both of them, a glance to Frank.

Frank's hand drifts out, into the distance between himself and Brekke.

A beat "Oh sweet Dagda" Siv's eyes widen "Mom, did da get you pregnant again?"

Brekke takes Frank's hand, but then her eyes go WIDE at Siv's comment? "What? Siv...NO!" Loud in her startlement.

Frank's eyes go JUST AS WIDE. "WHAT?!?!"

"NO!"

He looks at Brekke "No?"

"No." Brekke's tone is FIRM.

"NO!" Frank repeats.

"Sorry, it's just some folks seem to be so secretive around me of late" Siv says "or odd things HAPPEN to be going on ... got me suspicious is all"

Brekke's brow furrows at Siv, and she says, "We will speak more on that. But no, it is merely that..." a pause, and she squeezes Frank's hand slightly before taking a deep breath. "After mid-summer, your father and I will be departing Rivervale."

Jess stares a moment.... blinks.

"You mean.... leaving. Leaving Rivervale?"

"Leaving." Brekke nods.

Siv is glad she had put down her wine ,or she'd surely be choking, "I... is this some promotion to another hold or..."

Indeed, for a moment, Siv and Jessica might be blinking in chorus

"You... you can't leave Rivervale....." says Jess.

Brekke shakes her head. "It is a retirement."

She gives Jessica a head tilt. "Why can I not?"

Frank takes a sip of his beer.

"Because... because.... it's ....." Jess stutters.

"It's home" Siv blurts "It's... the steady port we can always go to , and you're there. However far we go or don't go."

Then she catches herself "Pardon. I should not speak for Jessica, nor should I ... try to guilt you into anything I just. It's a shock"

Brekke looks down at her coffee for a moment, then looks up again. "It is still your steady port, and it will still be home for you both."

"But Rivervale is -you-." Jess says quietly "Not New Jersey. You. Both."

Siv hums something thoughtfully a moment, then steadies herself with a sip of wine

"It has been, yes." A sip of coffee.

"Where... where will you two be going?" Siv inquires

Jess hasn't taken a refreshment. She doesn't speak, but waits.
