"Or perhaps it will be the last thing you wish to hear. It is difficult to say." Is Brekke feeling smug?

"The only news I wish to hear from you is that your husband is dead... or at least in withering pain"

"There, you will be disappointed. But news of a certain Leanhaun baron will, I think, be of interest. Perhaps later." She turns and continues back the way they came.

Brekke pauses, but looks to Jessica for direction.

Jessica leaves, going upstairs to more welcoming spaces.

Brekke follows her daughter, only directing a snort back towards the captive before walking away.

Upstairs, Jess says softly "Go home."

A surprised look. "Tell me why."

"Someday. Not just now."

Still surprised. "Jessica...we can neuter her passion here. Her lover lives, but never sought her out. She will despair."

A deep breath.... and regret "I will speak with my Duke about her. She'll stay contained."

Brekke's brow furrows, trying to understand Jessica's thinking.

Soft "Mom. Go Home. Please."

A deep breath...a long exhale. "Then...I will go. Let me tell your father."

She nods. "Ok. I love you."

A nod, and she rests her hand on Jessica's shoulder. "And I, you."

She releases her, and moves away, then pauses a moment. "You will tell me why." A request.

"We'll talk." Jess agrees.

Another nod, and she walks away, shoulders tense, to find Frank.

Frank touches Brekke's fingertips while looking over her shoulder to Jess.

Brekke speaks evenly. "Jessica has asked that I return to Rivervale." She says it without resentment, but perhaps with some frustration. "I will go now...but perhaps you should stay longer, if you wish it."

"Mmphm. Here without you?No."

She nods. That was the answer she was expecting. "Jessica...can you have somebody bring our things?"

"Anything you want." Jess says.

A brow at the phrasing.

"Not quite anything."

Somewhere, Diego has broken out his good wine to offer. Somewhere a meal fit for 'kings' is being cooked. Kids are looking forward to meeting Jessica's mom and dad... but alas, it will not be this day.

"No. Not anything." Jess agrees with Brekke.

A nod, another brief touch to Jessica's shoulder. As soon as the bags arrive, they head directly back to the door...and head home.
