The triumph of Beltaine in Fenix was an amazing thing! Nunehi still prefer the Pitt, but they come to Fenix in greater numbers!

As long as they keep coming -somewhere-. It's harder to 'other' those you see regularly, in good circumstances.

A snake faced girl pulls at Jessica's pant leg. It seems they trust this place with their childlings

"Hola." Jess, looking DOWN, greets her.

"Holo, Tall woman of the free flame" The girl says "I require to be on your shoulders so I may reach a book on a shelf. Will you assist me?"

"Of course." Jessica offers her arms; the little one can either climb up, or Jess can lift her.

And up the girl scrambles up up using her like a ladder.

"Which shelves?"

She points down the hall

and there are some book shelves

And off they go.

Once they get there, she plucks a copy of Yertle the Turtle (in Spanish) and clutches to herself happily "My brother used medicine to put it up beyond my reach. BOYS."

Jess chuckles. "Tell you what; if you like, you can have that copy for your own. We'll replace it."

"OOOo" She says "I am not a big reader, but it's my favorite. See, it is about how a leader cannot just expect to step on the little ones, not even the children for selfish reasons"

"Well, I THINK that's what it's about.. mostly it has turtles" SHe says

"I think you are correct, in essence." Jess agrees "A leader should lift others up, not be lifted by others."

The girl on her shoulders nods then looks down, "You would be a good turtle chief"

Another chuckle. "Thank you."

"Where to now?"

"If you please, I would like to be put near a window so I may read by the sun"

Jess finds her a spot.

In the sunlight alcove, the serpentine childling nods "Gracias"

"De nada."

And she moves along.

"That was darn nice of you," Fawn the centauress says, "Young lady, in case I didn't mention it? i'm glad I ended up in YOUR hold" a chuckle

"Hello, Fawn. I don't know about nice.... I mean, maybe it was, but it seems like pretty small stuff. I'm glad you're here, too."

"Well, I think it was nice." She shrugs "But i can be a soft touch. Oh, I have news regarding the translation project where we get more books in the native tongues?"

"Yes?" She has Jess's attention.

"Tweak's people have made a printer that translates spanish to native dialects...the problem is, it inserts curse words. So we get things that are like 'it was the best of furking times, it was the shlocking worst of times "'

Jess sighs and rubs the base of her horns. "Well. That's.... marginally useful."

"Yes, it does have it's flaws" She says "I asked them if they could fix the problem.. and.. I was asked why was I trying to opress nocker culture"

Another sigh. "And because it's in a native language, we can't really pinpoint the language issues."

"It's a conundrum" She agrees "I'm sorry, Jessica. We may have to do this the long and slow way"

"Not your fault, Fawn. Long, short, slow, fast... I'm more focused on doing it -right-."

A nod "Well THAT we can do," The older woman assures "No one in Fenix I know is afraid of Hard work"

Tonto peeks around the corner, mimes fear, and 'flees'

"Almost no one"

"Tonto works hard." Jess stipulates "You need the right lens to see it."

She smiles "I suppose there is that. The other day some of the kids had him in buffalo form with tethers while they skated as he pulled them through the halls."

"You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd, but maybe behind just one?" with a smile.

A chuckle "So it seems. Oh well, any tasks you want me on while I'm getting long translations started?"

IC: "Mmm.... no? What do you plan to work on first?"

"Well, the translations... and some Spanish and English lessons for the young nunehi interrested in it. I was a nurse, but Fontaine does most of the healing around here"

"It is good to have you here, though, just in case. Not everything needs healing by his powers."

"Oh I keep my hand in. Mostly I do house calls to kinain who caan't or won't come here"

"I didn't know that. That's wonderful, thank you. If you need any resources for that, let me know."

"Oh, well, it's just me doing my part" She demures "But thank you"
