"Or such is my theory?" he finishes

"Maybe they didn't listen in. Maybe they saw something."

"Maybe" A concerned look

"We're pretty sure he didn't signal them or anything?"

"Maybe" The thane speaks up "Maybe someone outside saw our patrol? And signaled??"

"We're back to watching the hold? I mean... we didn't keep him that long. I didn't want to hold him. I suppose they could have people watching eaasily enough."

"Either from Alejandro's side, or the mainland Nunnehi. Or both."

"Only person I saw was that playful pooka girl" The satyr thane sighs "Kept fliring from the roof top"

"Let's get that description down and around." Jess says firmly "I'd like to talk to her."

"Diego, Constance is occupied. Can you help find this pooka girl?"

Diego ponders "Possibly. I'll get the census shall I? I know where it is kept"

"Yes, thank you."

HE trots off

"Did anyone else see anything that might raise eyebrows?"

"Besides the ambush itself? No "

Diego returns with satyr speed

He is flipping through "Okay, quite a few pooka on the list, but... no female ocelot pooka"

Jess thinks for a moment. "Thane, how did you know it was a pooka?"

"Well, she had cat ears and a tail"

"But you didn't talk to her?" A look "Interesting" Diego considers "Pardon me, Jessica but... I have to ask Otem something. Do Nunnehi know Chicanary or metamorphisis?"

"Well, some do, of course" Otem says

"You think maybe this was a mainland spy, in disguise?"

"I think it's possible" Diego says "It's what i would do if I were them. remember, at one tiem I was hiding a rebellion"

"Ok, so..... lessons learned." she looks around the table.

The Thane Satyr blushes "Wouldn't be the first time one of my kith didn't get distracted by a femme talee with tail"

"Maybe, but we can't take every satyr off duty." She reminds him.

Diego nods "They'd be lost without us"

"We need the bodies." She.... agrees?

"See that," Diego smiles "She wants our bodies"

Otem frowns

Jess nods to Otem to speak.

"Oh lighten up, Otem." Diego says "it is meant in good humor"

Otem mmms then shrugs "I have little to add. Diego is right that we have shapeshifters"

"There we go then. We underestimated and made assumptions. Let's not do that again, shall we? If we are -lucky- we will have Coy with us to remind us."

"How.. how's he doing?" the thane boggan from earlier inquires "We're all worried"

"Too soon to tell." she reports soberly.

They ALL look somber at that, some low mutters

"Let's support him, and Constance." she reminds them.

Nods all around

Diego says "And the best way to do thta is pick up a few of their duties or at least make less work for them I think. I'll talk to Flex and Specs and organize the study some"

"Excellent idea, yes. Thank you. Phobos, Demos, can you make sure Coy's duties are covered?"

"Sure, we'll take care of Cornboy's shift" Demos says

"Thank you. What else?"

"mmm I guess Salma can guard the study and feed Mamacita cat?" Diego points out

"Excellent yes... What about Coy? Does he have anything that needs taking care of?"

"Besides his shift?" COnsideration "Normally he leads drills."

"Ok, let's get that covered. Otem, if you or one of your people want to help out, I'd welcome it."

"I would be honored"

"Ok. Have we missed anything?"

Heads shake, and Diego says "If there is, we're still missing it"
