The Countess (Either one or both) hears an announcement from Phobos that night

"Sir Charles Shieldworthy ap Fiona" Phobos declares "From Iowa"

"Oh, good." Jess gets up and goes to greet the arrival.

Sir Charles is blinking and rubbing at an ear. He's a troll, big, blue hued... he's also near the Herald and just lost hearing in his left ear

"Sir Charles? Jess King." She offers her hand.

"Pleasure, Jessica" he shakes it "Charles is fine. The knighthood and all is from a past life mostly. The Chief speaks highly of you, then again that's nothing compared to what Ariel has said. Thanks for looking after my little sister"

"Ariel's an important member of the ... well, the childling's court. Ellie depends on her."

"Thank you for coming." she says "We've got a room ready for you and I can take you to Ariel. She's looking forward to seeing you."

"I better see Ariel first or she'll be furious. I Hope she's not been too much trouble? "

"Like I said, we depend on her. Come with me." and she leads him to Ariel.

And he moves in. He's a good looking fellow, nothing compared to sidhe, of course. And when he is lead to the kid's room...

Ariel puts her X box controller down, game still going ,and tackles his legs "CHARLIEEE"

The troll gives a good natured grunt , playing up the impact "Wooo you've got strong"

Jess nods with a small smile. "I'll let you two visit. Ariel, ask Miss Maria or Rosa where his room is when he's ready."

"Okay, thank you, Miss Jessica, you're the best" Then to her brother she flexes "I've been working out on my bow, and sparring with my friends. THough Ellie's the best with the sword and Salma prefers to read"

Charles looks over at Jessica "Feeding me to the wolf, eh? Thank again, Jessica. Oh, I had food from the farm, but the herald took it to the kitchen and..." He stops "Oh dear. I gave a bsket of food to a redcap"

"It's ok." Jess assures him. "I'll check on it."

And she goes to do that.

Good thing she did, as the basket is open and at least one pie has been lost. Possibly trhe pie plate it was on as well

"Ok, fine, but take the rest to the kitchen and give it to Maria and Rosa, please."

"mm oh... as knight I am sworn to keep my word and I tole that guy I would 'take care of this'" A grin with raspberry stains

"Yeah, but I want it in the kitchen." She says "I can take it if you want."

He sighs and hands it over "I ain't got the will power to promise it will get there without further tribute"

"Fair enough, thank you." she takes it to the kitchen and lets the ladies know that their guest has arrived.

Maria and Rosa take it and look over the contents "There is something missing, the Hearth Kourtney is new but there is a balance, a ... an art to the placement of food."

"It was handed off to a redcap to bring it here."

"oh.." both ladies look sad but resigned "That explains so much"

"At least it was only one pie." she points out.

"Only because you saved it"

They take it and start sorting out the goods. Jessica can smell some of HER favorites (well her DeBuke favorites) in there

But, she can wait; she will let the ladies sort things out first.

"Oh Hearth Kourtney has incorporated some foodss more common to your New England and California regions..."

A touch of Rivervale and Cali for Jessica, not just the DeBuke standards

A faint smile. "I look forward to trying them."

"Oh we can have a dish set up for you in ten minutes, Jessica" Maria offers to her kindly "if you like. After all, PHobos already started HIS meal" mmmph

"Well.... as long as I am here....."

As quick as a wink, or three winks at most, they prepare her the meal...

and Rosie says "Oh, there's a package in here"

"For whom?"

"Apparently you,..if Salma approves" amused look "It's clearly a book in there. Brown paper wrap"

"I should probably let her open it, then."

"I mean I think the book is something for you, and the Salma approval is humoring the girl" Rosa says "That little burro is a tyrant in the books, but most lovable"

The food is hot, served before jessica, and smells good

"Ok, thank you." And she offers to take the package.

It's handed over

Definitely a book in there

She'll eat first.

And as much as she loves the food down here, it's nice now and then to get touches of home. Though poor Kourtney's attempts at New England food can't quite reach Kerri's expertise it is still nice. Her Cali Rice dish is really good though

It's enough that it was prepared with care and affection.
