then she puts it away, and goes to take a nap, unasked

And Regent Mitra shows up by her side "Hey. Ash told me one of your kids had a melt down?"

She exhales. "I stepped wrong. Ariel's been missing her DeBuke family, they sent a belated birthday present and I suggested it might be better to keep it at my apartment and... she didn't care for that. And I can understand."

"Mmm" A frown "Lord knows, Sayda has her moments where I feel I cannot step right with the girl and neither is in their wilder years yet. " A shake of her head "She attached value to the object that was beyond it being a toy, obviously. Mmm she may ease up. Satyrs do flame and cool fast"

"It's a video game consol."

"Ah, yeys, those can be time wasters and addictive boot. No wondered you wanted a safety of sort"

Jess sighs. "It didn't go over well."

"No. Maybe it's not you she's mad at though"

"I'm sure there's a couple things going on there. I should get her to visit the farm, and maybe vice versa."

"Mm, maybe. her only cousin at Fenix is a pretty busy thane. I think you're right. A visit from or to her relations might be a good idea. "

"What about her brother? Charles?"

Jess chuckles albeit grimly. "Never breathe a word of this to Clem but sometimes I have trouble keeping the DeBukes apart. Which one is Charles?"

"The one they don't trust. Was sained and came in WITH a knighthood, House Fiona I think. THey ignore it as best they can."

"OOohhhh. Now I recall him. What about him?"

"Well, he's her brother. Maybe he could visit? Cheer her up?"

"I can ask."

"I bet he'd do it" A nod "Hopefully a troll fiona that won't make you crazy"

She gets the King's eyebrow for that.

"yes I'm talking about your sister's ability to launch you towards drinking. I exagerate but not by much some days"

"Not by much." she agrees.

"Oh, did you want more news on the Pitt's patrols while we're walking?"

"Yes, please."

"This you will like, you knew they already honored the Pitt, yes? " She goes on as it was some what obvious, "Well, it means they've patrolled with gusto there. Jessica? The kithain there and the Nunnehi? Some are wearing arm bands with the symbol of scale and feather to show that they're of the same war band. Abuela gives her approval to each one , no matter their origin, who wears the band. It's turning into a kind of knightly order"

"That's.... wonderful. Do you think we could do something like that county-wide for those that wanted to?"

"I.. well, technically Jessica you have the right to make an order, doesn't even have to be a kngihtly one"

"I would never order Abuela. I don't think I can. I know I shouldn't."

"Oh."

They walk for a while, Jess thinking.

"But yes, the whole county is welcome"

She nods, slowly. "Mitra...." no use of title, a sign "....what do I need to do to make it official but leave it to Abuela?"

"Mmm a formal commendation for this Community Service?"

She looks... underwhelmed, but nods.

"Mmm too low a bar? " A consideration "I have it. I'll knight her. She'll have right to establish an order, and run it."

"You would merely authorize her to do so, not direct or command"

"No, not if she doesn't want it!"

"Well Jessica I'm not sure exactly what you're hoping for. I played it like a Neighborhood watch and you seemed disappointed, I over to knight the chimera and you nixit?"

"Mitra, I'm not sure every Nunnehi warrior patrolling -wants- my recognition! Hell, there are Fae that I would be don't! But they accept Abuela's? I support that. Do I want to be county-wide? YES. Against anyone's wish or culture? No."

"LEt me know how I can help you make it happen and i will, but I fear I'm coming empty on ideas besides what I've suggested. "

Jess nods; her attention shared with patrol. As always.

"I do, and I'm glad of it."
