The clean up for Samhain is interesting to say the least.... a blur of memory... hard to piece it together

Jessica remembers one thing for sure...

(And Shady chooses)

A) She had a night where she took a lover for the first time in awhile, no one else knows she did. She had her pride and would not be seen as under a man's influence again.

B) She and the Dragon faced each other, and Yes, Duff is the one the dragon hunts.

OR C) Thalllian tried to use the mists of Samhain to try their evil under a cover, but instead they angered the Countess and Jessica had a purge of them! Dozens and Dozens of Thallian destroyed by morning , normally one does not commit violence on Samhain, but they started it. She finished it

Jess: MINE!! MINE!!! MY LAND, MY PEOPLE, MINE!!!

That's certainly how she felt the other night. This is not to say there were not wounded among her people in exchange by the end of it. But the Thallian shouldn't have come into her hold to try to get at little Ellie. And one captured thallian lead to news of other bands of nightmare kin.

And Jessica opened the coffers to pay some corbies to hunt, offered honors to knights for each kill, and yes, she took up her own maul

And THOSE brand will be hunted down, yes, by the County.

Indeed, Ellie, also unseelie, seemed to unleash her own vision in the use of hunting them down. The exact visions are not remembered by any save maybe her, but with an uncanny gift she seemed to know where the Thallians were hiding, what their plans were, where they were about to strike.

Forearmed, forewarned, and foresighted, Renaissance had every advantage

And now? The countess is getting fussed at and directed to the Spa for healing by Regent Mitra, "I have my own hold to attend to, but no, even unseelie you don't take care of yourself until your people all get patched up. That's very noble, little n, but you need to be at tip top shape now"

"Why?"

Jessica, the morning after, is more pliable but still not completely shed of her Winter coat.

"how about in case a dragon attacks while you're weak? Or nunhehi from the mainland instead of the ones who have made peace with us? Or if Duff shows up all hang dog and you want to punch him in the nose?"

"And because we're asking very nicely" Fontaine declares

"Mmphm. Ok." At least one of those makes sense to her, and she enters the waters.

Fully clothed, but it's just after Samhain, after all.

"Thank you," Fontaine tells her ,and orders the waters to lap over her. the magic of the flames feeds the waters, and is intensified. Healing dances along the wounds on her limbs and damage

And.... yes, she has to admit.... it feels good.

"Hell of a fight thought" Mitra admits, sinking in nearby "I don't remember half of it, but we really tore into them. Even the members of the Unseelie Houses went gung ho"

And that's true. Tidemarch actually followed the purge with a ruthless efficiency and yet respecting the chain of command.

"Seelie or Unseelie, Thaillain are the enemy of us all."

"That's a stone cold truth"

She grunts.

"Ellie was very brave" Mitra admits

"She was. She is"

"Now, as for cleaning up, " Mitra says "Tweak's going to want the goblin tech to break apart and study and damn if she's is n't the best qualified"

"Of course. I'd be surprised if she hadn't already started."

"Knowing her, she figures it's better to demand forgiveness than beg permission"

Jess shrugs. "She has permission."

Then, a slightly woflish grin.

A grin back, not as wolfish, but no tartar build up at all. Damn sidhe

"I should send an order -requiring- her to collect, examine, and explore the goblin stuff."

"Oh would you? She'll work herself in a frenzy cursing you out, defying you ,and then doing it anyway"

"I know." she shrugs again "No point, but it was an amusing thought."

"Oh have fun with it. We both know it'll probably motivate her to even greater heights."

"I'll think about it."

"All right" She looks over her faded wounds and Jessica's too, "Fontaine, you're a miracle worker"

"Thank you" Fontaine says "The Countess so rarely looks to herself, even when I DO wear pants"

A glare at Fontaine "My business is my own. I'm well, and I'll prove it to any who think otherwise."

Fontaine inclines his head "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it intrusively, we just worry"

"Mm. Plenty of things to worry about around here. Let me worry about me."

"As you command... countess" And the man turns into liquid and drains away

"Mmphm."
