Jessica is, for a rare moment, having something to eat. Or at least pushing it around on her plate under the watchful stare of some of the kitchen staff.

"Yessica!" She heads over to claim a seat by the Big Countess.

"Hello Ellie! Hungry?" boggans are already on the move.

"Oh, yes please!"

She swings her feet happily.

Jess would push her own plate over but the boggans would glare. Anyway, food's coming.

"Anyways, Contessa, I came to help!"

"Of course, help yourself."

"I saw that the Nunnehi want to make an alliance."

"Uummm... something like that, yes."

Jess goes faintly purple around the ears.

And food is set before the younger countess, by now the ladies know her favorites but also makes sure it has the healthy veggies she can tolerate or even likes

Ellie does eat things that aren't churros.

And it's no burden to eat the fancy roasted squash. "So, you don't want to get married. That's understandable, you are a troll."

"I thought, if THEY have an heir, you could promise them me. A nunnehi surely can't be worse than a Balor."

"They who?"

"Wait.... childhood betrothal? No, No.... Ellie, do you -want- that?"

"The Nunnehi!"

"Oh, well, I'm a Countess. And an heir. So of course I'll have a political marriage. Maybe they have a nice boy?"

Jessica puts her flatware down and puts her face in her hands.

"So...." slightly muffled "... we talked about an exchange of childlings, or adoption, but they aren't ready to trust that far yet."

"Did.... did I say something wrong?"

"Well.. well, a betrothal, we wouldn't have to get married until we were wilders, right? That's a long ways away."

"No, Ellie, not wrong just unexpected." She gives her face a quick scrub and sits up.

"It is, but right now it's not something they're interested in. I would rather adopt one of their childlings than have you marry someone you don't know, or don't want. But none of that is on the table right now. Thank you, though; that's very brave."

"Well, at the place before the Baroness wanted me to marry that awful boy."

"I don't need you to marry anyone you don't want to, Ellie."

"But to make an alliance? I mean, maybe there's someone nice... I am sure I'll get married when I grow up."

"And it would be better to have time to get to know them..."

"You can do all that without it being political, or an arrangement."

"Well, maybe something like the DeBukes did? A party or a picnic?"

Jessica nods. "That's a good idea."

"We shall be happy to help you, Contessa Ellie" THe two boggans chime in

"So no childlings have to be given up, but we could be together."

"I'll.... suggest it."

"Everybody likes a picnic." The casual assurance of a childling.

"She's not wrong" Rosa observes

"I'll suggest it." Jess repeats.

"AND picnics are better with churros."

"I'll suggest churros." she agrees.

"Churros it is"

And ellie is asked if she has other foods besides CHurros, and assured at least ONE Picnic blanket will be her favorite color
