Jess goes to the weapon rack and selects a dagger (a big one)to pair with her sword.

He eyes he practice weapons annd takes up the morning star "Huh. Bit brutal looking"

"It's meant to be brutal." Jessica points out. She looses up with both weapons in hand; obviously not her first time doing this but she takes it seriously.

"I suppose I imagined fairie would fight with with rapier or whip like El Zorro"

"Some do."

"Most rapiers don't fit well in my hands, though, and I've never worked with a whip; I'd probably put welts on myself while I was learning it."

"Ouch" A nod "Probably a reason for me to try something other than a flail" He tries the feel of diffeent practice weapons

Meanwhile, Jessica starts more serious drills.

He leaves her be, watches sometime to learn, but mostly tries some pracitice weapons out

She is working on a variation of the Florentine style; two handed, two blades, one long and one short. It is clearly NOT as familiar to her and she frowns with concentration as she works, grunting occasionally when she needs to reset and try again.

"The maul no longer pleases you? Or are you just braching out? Trying new things?"

She pauses in the midst of a reset. "Working on versatility."

A nod "Pardon. I shouldn't intrude. "

"Not an intrusion. You're curious, which is understandable."

"There have been times when I was out and about and wasn't armed, or times when my maul was problematic to have with me, and I had to use other weapons. So, versatility."

"You're trained in hand to hand then?"

"I mean, boxing or wrestling?"

"Mm. More like brawling and grappling when your life depends on it."

"When I was a boy I wanted to be a luchador" A chuckle "You know about them?"

She nods. "I've been in Mexico for several years now."

"Apologies for my presumption. At one time, they were seen as great heroes, like gladiators mixed with superheroes. Later they lost their allure to manny of us, becoming something of a punch line. A pity"

She nods. "Not unlike the history of the Fae."

"I wonder if it's tied to that banality ... folks lose their heroes and the world ggrows colder"

"I'm not the strongest philosopher but I think there might have something to that. Tito-Woden might have some insight."

"Met him, entertaining young man who is almost as wise as he thinks he is.. your pardon"

She nods and goes to put away the practice blades.

"is there anything here I can do to help?"

She wipes her hands on her towel. "Yes. Important work. You must learn who you are. Who and what are the Fae. If you can, learn who you were."

A lip twitch "I see. I think I'll be stubborn and move furniture for people behind your back. " Troll humor settling in

"And, perhaps, keep a good distance between yourself and a visitor called "Sir Vali the Stealthy of House Beaumayn."

"Oh dear. A bad influence?"

"Yes."

She gets a drink.

"Noted"

"I have one more round."

-Now- she picks up her maul.

A nod and he observes

THIS... this is clearly her best practiced form and weapon, where she is the most comfortable and proficient. Now she spins and swings, using the momentum of the maul turn her like a practicioner of Aikido or JuJitsu.

Admiration

This drill is shorter than the others she did. Maybe it's just for balance, to recenter herself with her most practiced style. Maybe she doesn't need as much practice with this.

"Fantastic form" he says "At least to this layman's eyes"

She ends with the maul at the ready, breathing steady but heavy; shorter drill, perhaps, but still a work-out.

She nods thanks to the compliment. "I'm going to do some cool-down stretches and pack up."

"I'll leave you be. Thank you for demonstrating how it is done. " he starts to o then turns "Would you like me to tell the Rosie and Maria what you'd like for dinner?"

"I don't usually." with a puzzled expression "They prepare meals for all in the Freehold, and visitors. We just show up and eat them. And praise the cooks."

"Really? they keep asking me what I'd like. I thougght they'd surely do it for you"
