"They're closer than we know" Kelby says, then fusses "I'm sorry, this is rather grim isn't it? Why don't you girls tell me your favorie things about this hold instead?"

Coy says "She's a knight and sworn to a house that might one day have ambitions against the farmhold? I'd condemn her foolishness at the least. As is, I don't want to talk to her right now"

"Oh! Oh, well, there's my friends. And there's the talking roses. And there's the churros. And the cats."

"Have you ever had a churro?"

"Then you're dismissed, and please keep your distance from her while she's a guest here." Evenly.

"On a personal note, Coy?"

"Yes, Countess?" The thane says , a slight lift of chin, perhaps bracing

Kelby looks perplexed "A ..Churro? I don't even know what that is... so .. no?"

Ariel grins "Oh we got to get some, but the last one is for Salma"

"Maria and Rosa make them, they're the best. Come on!" She takes Kelby's hand to drag her to the kitchen.

And Kelby is dragged.

"Kelby was close to someone I think of as a sister. I respect what you're saying. I haven't taken a House despite .... encouragement.... and I never sought rank so I appreciate what you're saying. But if someone I cared for was brought back from the dead? I'd be happy. Thank you. You can go."

Ramona and Aria pad along, completing the procession.

Kelby it turns out , likes churros "These are great"

"Cinnamon is the best!" Ellie and Ariel also have churros.

At least one is off limits, as is custom, in case Salma shows up.

Kelby is more of a tomboy kind of girl, but she's happy to talk a little shop about dresses and such.

"The Farm is mean."

She frowns. "They're fine. I don't want to go."

"Hey" Kelby says "the farm is not mean, people in it can be. There's a difference"

Ariel instantly looks miserable

Kelby says "Now what just happened at the farm, Ellie? I heard it was bad, but it soundns like you were wronged and it's soured you on Ariel's home"

"Ramona needs brushed." She scoops up the tabby.

"Hearth Agnes was mean to her. Thought she was using me to get at the hold" Ariel says

"I'm going to go find her brush." Ellie... escapes!

"I see" Kelby says "Damn it, Ellie, I'm ..." but the girl is gone "Sorry"

"She doesn't listen" Ariel says "She says it's okay, but she won't go near the farm ever now, and I can' show her the horses or the flutterybys or..." A sigh "Hearth Agnes has said she's sorry to me and wants to meet with her, but Ellie won't go"

Kelby nods "I see. Yes, maybe I have been putting off meeting the family again too long" Her jaw sets
