Ariel waves

"You're gonna do great." Adam reassures Piper. "And I'm just as glad you're not hoping to get the post. Don't know how I'd convince my folks to let me move to Tijuana."

"Oh, Salma! Look!" Delighted!

"A burra argent and a... a mullet purpure. What's spanish for star?"

On the dais, Jessica nods to Phobos.

Phobos nods to Nancy. Nancy is dressed in floral dress of a medieval styling. She, in turn, looks to Jessica "Phobos is allowing me to act as speaker for this. Is that okay with you, Freeholder?"

"Of course."

"Estrella!" Salma is delighted and still waves to Ariel.

Piper gives Adam a kiss. "Maybe if they wanted someone just for those terrible winters..." Winking.

Nancy says "Ladies and Gentlemen! Kithain and Kinain of all varieties, be ye common and proud or noble born, welcome to the auditions and musical trials of Fenix! To see which and who will be accepted to be YOUR Troubadour! Judging ultimately will be her Excellency, Jessical "Flame Free" king! There will be THREE songs by each participant! So they may show off their variety of theme and genre if they so wish. Prizes will be offered also, and indeed, no Troubadour will go home empty handed! For the rest of you, you may cheer, applaud and so on! We apologize to the sluagh among us, for there is going to be some noise! Be gracious for mistakes made and enthusiastic for utterly grate moments of which I have no doubt there will be! Remember, Music is a gift we can all share, and should you wish... large hats are being placed, one for each troubadour! Put coins , dross, or favors ..."

And indeed, Adam finds himself pulled away.. Troubadours only, but he gets next to stand next to a large VIKING Helmet upside down that has a sign next to it that says 'PIPER OF RIVERVALE'

Other hats include an upside down steampunk top hat with Elias name. A large Admiral hat for Neema who looks amused. A princess Diana hat for Phoebe! Dean has a colonial looking hat, ala American fife player....

Piper is wearing a more simple outfit - another sundress, simple yet elegant, and slit up the sides to allow freedom of movement but without sacrificing propriety - the fringes are artfully cut ragged and the colors are a riot of jewel tones are the fringes patterned to look like flames flickering around her legs, or feathers brushing, or both? The effect is one of a phoenix rising up, but in rich earthy or deep gem colors that match the Rivervale badge, rather than just red or orange, which may have washed out her pale complexion.

She eyes the viking hat, and laughs, but rolls with it!

Jessica waits stoically.

"First performer is Elias Hazard!" Nancy says looking at the list "This will be his first song."

Adam, however, cheers enthusiastically!

The Nocker gets out, grins and speaks up "You furkers look almost as excited as I feel. " He adjust the electric harp, adding on all parts "I'm taking a gamble here. I was given some advice, but I'm gonna try it my way"

And he puts up the sound system and... begins to play

His harp turned guitar steams and whistles, filling in sound very much like an 18 wheeler letting pressure out at key points! Drum sounds tap along with his feet.. a truly one man band

Jessica has a note pad, and jots something down.

The crowd's reaction looks mixed. Some blink as if they had been hit with a Salmon or something equally unexpected, some begin jumping up and down and thrashing their heads. Candles are waved.

Baron Tidemarch actually looks amused. Tweak's responses are her own. Mitra makes a note of it.

Duff has joined Jessica and admits quietly "I didn't tell him to do it THAT way"

Piper has a huge grin! It was not, maybe, easy listening, but it was INTERESTING.

"He put his own spin on it." She murmurs back, when she can over the music.

And it ends he bows to Jessica and holds up a finger "That's the Storm! Mountain and Hearth are coming!"

He's based his music on.. oh my he may not have understood Duff or Trolls. But still interesting.

A glance at Duff.

Applause is breaking out... even those who didn't care for it know skill is required. The fingering was fast without being sloppy! The voice was solid and did not quavor

Duff says "I told him that troll lodges had those.. but not much else. I think he just liked the sound"

Ash looks over to see how the kids liked it.

Ellie knows how to headbang!

Ash's mouth falls open at that and she has to cover it quickly. Amusement dances in her eyes. No dissapproval.

Ariel does too, but once it was over she looks intimidated and like she might want to retreat.

Salma does not headbang, but she stomps along with the beat!

Phoebe bends down and whispers something to Ariel, and she nods and bucks up.

"Next," Nancy declares "Phoebe will take HER first song."

Piper cheers softly, then goes quiet to watch...

Jessica makes a note, nods.

And moves over towards Ariel, kneeling next to the little Satyr. "You playing today?" She asks quietly in the hush between the players.

Ariel nods "Only one song. I got to. They say I'm the childling troubadour for Ellie and Salma.. and they acted like I shouldn't go on since I was with them and didn't need to. But I gotta. You know? Prove that they're not wrong to trust me with that. I.. I gotta EARN it."

Phoebe takes 'center sage' and a soft acoustic guitar that has been provided, "I admit to playing something I know at least a few of you should love" A fond smile to Ellie and Salma and then a nod to Ariel. She plays well enough, but it is her voice that wows as she plays a song normally done by a fellow, but yes the girls know it well.

She gives Ariel a little shoulder hug. "They're already proud of you, without needing to prove anything. But I know you'll do well, for your friends, you're gonna shine." And she hushes, listening...

As Phoebe's sweet voice fills the chamber.. Ariel who was already feeling better thanks to Piper has to fight a squee

It continues and then..." I am on my way, I can go the distance
I don't care how far, somehow I'll be strong
I know every mile will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere to find where I belong" and wow, she holds that note!

To the point even the other Troubadours look impressed.

As it ends... applause breaks out. Quite a transition from Hazard's thunder, this was a plea and serenade combined.

Ellie applauds, enthusiastically!
