"What was she doing up in the RAFTERS?" Ariel says

"Oh, sleeping, camping... striking strange bargains with sluagh... but that's a tale for another time" Clem says

"Yes."

"Okay. " Ariel says excited that she'll at least learn COOL stuff, then she says "Uhm... Clem? Is my brother okay?"

"Charles will visit you. He's fine" Clem promises

Ariel says "he's not. .mad I'm staying here is he?" A stage whisper

"Nope. He worries JUST enough, but not too much" Clem assures

"Whew. Okay" she says

Ellie fidgets (just a little!)

Jessica nods. "Charles is welcome here." I hope.

"Oh. Elenaor, I hope you don't mind, but when I brought Ariel's things.. I thought it only fair we set you both up with some gifts" She pulls out a package

BIG EYES.

"More toys?"

Jessica makes a mental note.

"More? How spoiled are you kids getting?" Clem says

"Not enough" Ariel assures "Not spoiled enough"

"We got princess dolls..."

"Oh.. well.. that's not my doing this is more an... well... " She pulls out the bag "Here. I'm afraid it's a one shot. " Inside the big bag are smaller folded paper works folded.

Ellie glances for permission before diving in to see what is within.

Jessica nods.

"Now , don't pull the strings until you're outside and wait till night... see, those are paper lanterns..chimerical so won't bother most mortals... there are twenty of them.. " Clem says

"Wait.. are those floating lanterns?" Ariel says "Like in Tangled?"

Ellie gasps!

"The floating lights? Really?"

Clem suddenly finds her legs trapped in a hug.

"Just so..." Clem says " Well, they're very close cousins. You pull the string, it lights up and floats up... and eventually..." Oofff

Clem looks at Jessica as if to say 'what do I do now?'

"Thank you Lady Chief DeBuke!"

"You're.. hyou're welcome, honey" Clem pats her shoulder

"That's..awesome.." Ariel says

"Thought about wands that went zzing twinkle bibbiity bobbity but it occured to me bringing noise makers into someone else's hold was rude" Clem admits

"Thank you for that...."

A mutter "Watch out for Vali's gift to kids, that's all I'm saying."

"Preaching to the choir."

"These are special lanterns. Could we use them on Beltaine?"

"oh please? that'd be so perfeeeect" Ariel makes the BIG eyes

"That's up to Miss Jessica," Clem says

"I don't see why not."

"Then it'll be putting the Light back into the world, which I guess is maybe a little Imbolc but it works for Beltaine."

"An excellent observation, Eleanor."

"Smart girls both" Clem agrees

"I've had LOTS of lessons."

"So most of the schooling should be on the COOL stuff like magic and weapons" Ariel adds

Clem gives a brow raise at that one
