She will help out washing the rice and measuring as needed.

"Nicely done."

The oven hits 350 so they can put the chicken in as they finish up the rice

"I got it." She bends slides the pan in. "How long do you think?"

"I tend to go by smell" He admits "But to be safe... " he takes out hs phone and peeks for a reccomended time

"What do you think?"

"According to this, an hour? Does that sound right?"

Jessica thinks back to Kerri's work. "Yes? Yes, I think so. Oh! And if you poke it after that and the juice is pink, it's not done. Clear juice is ok."

And they get back to work.

Thinking back on Kerri's work might cause some old and warm memories to fill Jessica. Little lessons, whether intended as such or not

Indeed, a small smile hides on her lips.

And a smile on his face spreads in response. He's not sure why she's happy but.. she is, and so it spreads

"Ok, that's all cleaned up. Still.... 45 minute to go, so....."

"So, we keep the lid on the rice even after it is cooked so it doesn't lose heat"

"Right, good idea. Think this is enough?"

"Mmm unless you want a salad or dessert?"

"or rolls"

"Well, we have rice. Do we need another veg, do you think?"

"No, we have carrots with the chicken."

"So...dessert or rolls?"

"Dessert? I don't really have anything, though."

She turns to look at the supplies in the pantry and fridge again.

A kiss "How about I make a quick run to astore for some ice cream?"

"If you want." A shy smile. "I don't have much to drink, either." Apologetically.

"So, if you want a beer or something, might pick something up."

"Sure, the beer for you too, or would you prefer something else?"

"You decide. I mean, I'm pretty ok with what we have here but I'll join you if you get some."

"I think I know what you like, or a least what you don't" he kisses her and moves out

She nods and putters around the apartment.

Soon enough , he returns with some moose tracks with extra fudge, some beer, and something else

She checks the door before opening it; this is still Tijuana.

"Welcome back."

Smart.

"THanks. Sorry it took me a bit longer than I thought it would but the ice cream is safe, the drinks are chilled" He comes in and she notices not all the drinks look store bought

"That's ok; I wasn't worried. And, you're back before the chicken is done so no harm."

She blinks. "You went to -New Jersey-???

"You can't prove thatt" he says

She lifts the bottles, waves them. "Where did these come from?"

"The bottles came from my place"

"Oh." She puts them on the counter. "That's.... very thoughtful. Thank you."

"Now, what's in the bottles..." mmm

Eyebrow.

"Are you worried I'm poisoning you?"

"No, just trying to figure out if the reason you were delayed is because you went to New Jersey for drinks!"

"Only one way to fidn out, isn't there?"
