at about 2 in the morning, she wakes to hearing the sound of... voices

She hears "Seriously? We're doing this? " an annoyed voice// "Look, the truck smells like piss as it is. And they're not going anywhere. Where would they even go from here?" //"FIne, but if one breaks and runs, YOU are chasing them" /More words... this time in.. well, that's not English

Her one dot of Linguistics is Spanish!

Narrowed eyes.

And yup, she hears words in Spanish "Go Quickly" and "Don't RUn, or we will hurt you" "No time for modesty" Though that last is hard to make out

She stalks through the brush, getting closer.

Grown men and women, and a few in their late teens, in filthy rags. With cords about their legs to slow them down, and wrists as well making a 'piss break' awkward. Oh what a medly, Spanish maybe their main language but some look Asian... Filipino she would guess? Others are likely from Central America.

She looks for the two who had been talking.

And she sees them. One Latino man, and one blonde fellow. Apparently the found common ground. They have guns.

So she has to make her move fast. Okay.

She takes care - they aren't expecting an approach from behind, they have prisoners to watch.

Indeed. Stealth isn't as required because a LOT of folks are stepping about, making noise

She can walk up RIGHT behind either one if she wishes

With a quick, brutal move she grabs each by the side of the head and CLOCKS them against each other - hard. Like cracking eggs.

They never stood a chance. Dagmar has a sluagh friend, and has observed the ways of the Shadowpaw! This, coupled with her natural athletics and combat experience means both men THUMP and go down. The Latino man goes down groaning. Blondie? Bleeding from an ear and out!

She yanks the guns from them.

One of the prisoners, a man, moves protectively in front of the women as if ready, though bound and tied up, to defend them from this new intruder

PErhaps he has troll blood!

"¿Habla inglés uno de ustedes?"

At this, he looks about...

Her accent is terrible, but clear. Lupe has made fun of it before. Somehow, she sounds extra New jerseyish en espanol.

"Mi español no es muy bueno."

and woman comes up "I speak some English. I didn't want to tell them I knew I... I was hoping to use it to get us free" She has a black bruise across an otherwise lovely face

She appears college age herself

"Quiero ayuda. " Frown. "No. Uh - quiero ayudar. I want to help."

Many start speaking in Spanish, but it's too rapid to make out details. However they sound relieved, overjoyed!

But the English speaking lady says "do you know where there are police we can trust?"

"Ok, okay... guys with guns are down. But you know the US is... dangerous, right? The police aren't always friends. Were you taken by force?"

"Si, we know" the lady says and then translates for Sam anything she needs, before turning back to her "Many of us were on the border, and told our Asylum had been approved. Others of us were promised jobs with good pay we could send to our family. This one" She points to the blonde guy "He said he was with the US government. A scam, but we learned too late"

A grim look and a nod. "Lots of bad people."

"Connecticut is not as nuts as some places down south, so that helps..."

She rifles through the traffickers' pockets, looking for a phone.

She finds a burner phone

Others go looking for things on the two to cut their bonds with

And some just break down and cry. Most show signs of slaps, or out right punches. Wrists worn raw and near bloody. A few of the women twitch with trauma indicative of... other instances.

"I'm going to get you somewhere safe."

"Uh... En...encuentro un... lugar seguro."

"I'll translate," the girl her age says

"Yeah, sorry. Lupe makes fun of my Spanish all the time."

"Okay, so we want to get you somewhere safe, but if we call the cops that might get Homeland Security here, or get everyone deported."
