He sighs. "Yes, Dearest, if you wish it."

They arrive back at the motel and he parks.

Under a light.

She looks around out the window, cautious

There is an Eshu woman trying to hide in the shadows. Not badly either but he's too keen eyed to miss it. she's a grump, and dressed warmly.

"Mmm. We are observed."

"Want to stay in the RV and snuggle while she freezes?" Dryly

"I'm tempted." he admits "Although I will need to do some work before we can turn in."

"SHe's an eshu... given their knack for being at the 'right place at the right time' I have to wonder what her role is"

"I am, at this point, disinclined to ask." sourly "I still ache from our last misadventure."

"Ooo sorrry darling"

"Mmph. Do you see her? I think it's a her...."

"She's hiding well but now that you pointed her out, yes. A her... mid thirties?"

"Or older, depending on her resources."

"True." She says

He sighs. "I should make some phone calls, Dearest."

"Very well, want me to head out and lead her off to buy you more privacy? Cecily can hit the vending machine to get sodas for her man and her?"

"No, Dearest; there's no need, unless you are thirsty? I can make calls from here as easily as from the room and without as much exposure and at least as much security."

"Have at " she says 'we brought drinks in the cooler"

"That's my girl." he approves, and kisses her before moving to the rear to make his calls.

She returns the kiss, and he makes his calls

It takes a few hours, and her William is increasingly frustrated between calls.

During this, Cecily prepares some drinks and snacks, and cleans up

Eventually he puts the phone down. "Hmmph."

"Sandwich?"

"Not hungry." he grumbles, then follows up with "Thank you."

"what's the news?"

"I can find a solution for one childling."

"Go on?" she takes a bite out of her sandwich

"That's it. Pick your favorite." dryly.

A long pause then an un lady like "Well...shit"

"Mmph." he says sourly.

"Well, most of them HAVE parents, they're just separated from them" she considers it

"That -complicates- matters." he grouches "Must they return to those families??"

A loong look, then she considers "I suppose they're already NOT with their families?"

"If they are hostages, then their families are here. Are we to relocate the locals en mass? Much more manageable to remove only the childlings, -if- we could find takers for them."

"mmmph" She sighs "I am going to kick May Maude's ass, AFTER we rescue her. This is very bad daughter in law behavior, getting captured"

"Agreed. A sloppy operative."

"She's been so GOOD till now'

"We can debrief her when we have her back. You have a decision to make, and we must be prepared to strike."

"I do. How much time to I have to make that choice?"

"However little time your lawyer, or lawyers, require."

"The point, after all, is to be -quick- and out of here."

"Agreed. I'm sorry, dear. whaat about the traitor who sold May Maude out?"
