"I'm fine here" He grunts "Now go to your mother. " Tone of paternal authority

Symon suppresses a small snort. "Not likely."

"No."

"You may not see it through all this gear, but I'm giving you my stern face"

"Dagmar, Symon. I agree with you that we need to step up security and that Jaymes was targeted specifically. I'm sure you agree that he does not need added stress at this time, to heal. Right?"

"If you think his daughter is going to leave him when he's laid up, and already had an attempt on his life here, then I must understand trolls better than you. - or at least, Dagmar." He says, mildly amused.

"I'm okay. Symon brought me some dross."

"Already an attempt on my life?" A blink "Here?"

Frank sighs and turns to Jaymes "Yes." obviously he wasn't going to say but.... "One gunman. Dagmar took him down and I turned him over to the authorities. Mortal, didn't remember what he was doing. I'll follow up later."

"Well shi..." he seems to recall his daugther can hear that and changes it "Someone doesn't like me"

Frank nods. "Seems so. Dagmar, Symon...." he pulls out his wallet "Could you go get me a cup of coffee? Something for you too, if you like." he passes over a $20.

He exchanges a glance with Dagmar.

Her mouth tugs to the side, but she nods.

"Just black, right?"

"That's just fine, yes."

He accompanies Dagmar to the other side of the door, then whispers to her, "I can wait here, if you want." Not quite saying he would listen in, but clearly he could overhear their conversation with his keen hearing.

Dag bites on her lip and nods. ("Please.")

He leans against the wall out of view of the door, and... waits, nodding back to Dagmar.

"She's being stubborn" Jaymes states the obvious to Frank

"You want Mountain Dew?"

"Mm." agreement "Jaymes, what happened?"

"From the begining."

"Two trouble makers come up, I don't like the look of them, the way they carried... but, they didn't seem focused on the money till.. and instead of making demands, they just draw and fire"

"A hit." Frank characterizes.

A belated nod to Dagmar, he'll drink it.

Dag slips off, leaving Symon to spy.. er... guard the door?

"mmm huh" A nod "Seeing that now. Well, I manage to avoid the first shot , evoke the wyrd, and close with the first guy. I hope the coroner reports don't get too detailed. Suffice to say I killed one fast. Guns in play? No time for me to be nice about it. I turn to the other annd ell him to surrender even as Icharge... Thought I knocked his gun aside, but his grip onn it was strong. "

He guards.. and if he happens to listen, well, that's just coincidence.

"Next thing I know, I'm snapping a neck, and the gun goes off hitting me in the chest. I hear a snap.. and black out"

"Mmphm."

"Why did they hit you, Jaymes? You need to tell me something?"

"Honest to gosh don't know" He admits

"Kids aren't in the room, Jaymes. What are you into?" patiently and without judgement.

A tired sound "Frank. I really don't know why I was targeted. Bringg your wife in. Use the boon."

"No need." Frank says "Any chance it's a case of mistaken identity?"

"Always possible, but we don't look that much alike" dryly

A soft snort. "We'll get a guard on you and I'm leaving Dagmar here on the condition that she goes home when properly relieved."

A pause then, "Leach" a sigh "Dagmar thinks it's leach"

"Why does she think that?"

"DIdnn't say, but it makes sense. He has connectionns to reach beyond capture"

A grunt of agreement. "I'll ask when she gets back."

"Why you, though? If it was Leech?"

"Sec. Drugs. thinking. bad mix. " A sigh "Dagmar cut off his hand. Maybe news of that got out?"

"They didnt hit her. They came to the store."

"Think like a mobster, Frank. You hurt the family, you show power by taking something precious. A warning. Kill dagmar, she doesn't hurt. Kill someone she cares about.." A grunt "Hurts he , drives her to foolish things"

Frank nods. "Spot-on."

"You should rest."

"My baby girl,, look out for her. I know she's a bad ass, smart too, but.. she still needs folks to look out for her"

"Of course I will." Frank assures James. "Dagmar, Tove, and CJ."

"Oh, Tove is going to be just as angry as dagmar, jus put on a better face. Frank, donn't let tove near Leeach. Prisonenr or no, she might roast him alive"
