Thanksgiving for the Thomases...

Adam is put to work...

"The big bowl, Adam" His mother directs, "Set it on the stove , please"

He does.

"thanks.. now your dad loves that buttery stuffing so I'm going with that flavor. Good for you too?"

"Sure. Want me to cut up the vegetables?"

"Oh that would be lovely. Careful , Knife's sharp and..." She laughs "Right, you fight with swords now. "

He nods and gets the celery, carrots, onion..... "Mushrooms?"

"Yes, just a little. Now your sister's food ..fortunately we have a gift from the hold...a teeny cornish hen tht's.. well, sluagh prepped"

"Ugh? Keep it seperate, then."

"Oh no need to tell me twice" She agrees

Adam cuts veggies suitable for stuffing.

"Hey, nicely cut" His mom says "Darcy, how's it going? Do you need help?"

"It's lace napkins dear, I can lift those" The grump assures

"How much?" He asks of the veggies.

"Actually, a bit extra won't hurt." his mom says "Your dad eats more as a troll so.. if you don't mind?"

"Don't mind." He takes a few more stalks and roots to work on.

"Thanks " And some custom mac and cheese is being done, the sort with the fancy cheese

About an hour passes, and Adam gets a text

He checks it.

Veggies are done, he's peeled potatoes, he's lifted heavy things and reached things that are up tall.

He is washing up some dishes when the text hits.

If he looks.. it's from his dad TXT: Hope to be there in Ten. Should I take longer if you need prep? He hasalso sent a copy to his mom

"Mom, you see the text?"

"Oh.hands full text him back and tell him to come in but dinner will be another 30"

TXT: Mom says come in when you get here in 10, dinner's about 30 minutes away.

"Told him." He pockets his phone and goes back to finish a mid-prep scrub-up.

"Thanks" She says "Hope they like this"

"They'll love it" darcy assures

Adam rinses the last pot and puts it in the drainer, checks the washing machine, and dries his hands. "What's next? Need me to set the table?"

"Darcy's already done it, I think. Check on her to be sure if you want?"

"Ok. Grandma Darcy? Need any help?" He goes to look.

"Oh...actually" She says blushing "I wouldn't say no.." It would seem she's fighting with a tray too big for her and she got on her own

"Let me get that!" He leaps forward and takes it.

"Oh thank you" She says as the large tray is savved from tilting "I swear.. old age is very rude. "

"You're not old." He kisses her cheek and grins, taking the tray where it needs to go.

"Oh you are a sweet one"

Adam settles the tray, checks in to see if his mom needs any help, gets a glass of water and drinks.....

And there's a knock at the door

"Want me to get it?!?!"

"Please, it's probably your dad" a smile from his mom

Adam goes to the door, checks, and opens it if it is indeed his dad and sister.

It is!

"Son" Kyle smiles

"Butthead" his sister whispers but smikles

"Hey, come in." Adam moves aside, but sticks his tongue out at Lily in acknowledgement.

Lily smiles broader

Kyle comes in, patting his son on the shoulder. "Okay how can I help?" he asks

"It's all good" Brenda comes out seeing her husband she throws arms around him for a deep kiss, then says "But you can carve the turkey"

"THEY'RE HERE!!!" he announces unnecessarily.
