"I need a drink" Brenda rises on her hooves and gives Bachdion a look "I know you're not capable of fear, but if my son ends up undone somehow becuause of you, there will be consequences"

Bachdion tips his hat to her.

And she looks at Adam "Be as careful as you can while doing this" And she trots off

Adam manages to avoid rolling his eyes until she's out of the room. "Sorry."

"Your mother loves you, lad. Nothing to apologize for. She's a hell of a woman"

"Yeah. Mom and Dad make a great team."

"They do. " He nods "And your father has been working hard while here. "

"Well. Troll."

"Mmm tell me about it." A smile "Anyway, lad. You DO know this will be dangrous?"

A shrug. "I don't mind. I mean... -everything- is dangerous."

"'Sides, banality might not effect me much, if at all. I didn't even used to go up to the Lodge all that much. This is the most time I've ever spent in a Freehold with a Balefire."

"mMM" he ponders and kens the boy "You are still a mystery , but one can't just leave a sword in its scabbard and hope it to reveal itself"

"Hey......."

"Not sure if that's a good thing or not......"

".... but I -would- like to see some action. Sir Magnus took me with him on a job once!"

"this isn't going to be action lad, it's going to be.. well, tedious, disheartening, it'll rip the joy out of you"

"Well... that sucks. I mean. I have to find and stop this landlord, right? Or help the people he's trying to evict? That's.... I mean, that's a good thing, right?" Crestfallen.

"It is. It is. " he assures him "Trust me, Adam. Some very good people face some very banal threats. And they do it for good causes. "

"Ok, well, that seems like a good fight then."

"Well, evictions may not seem like dragons, but you've heard the news. It's a very real threat"

"So let's go!"

"Ahem. Love the enthusiasm.. not crazy about the memory lapse. I told you. I need to check with Temerity first to get more details" A smile

Adam fidgets. "No, I remembered, I thought we could go talk to Dame Temerity.... but I guess she's still resting, huh?" disappointed.

"She needs to restore herself. " He nods "Sorry, lad. But what you can do for me? Search Engines. I want a list of apartment complexes in Jefferson City"

"Oh. Yeah, I can do that. I haven't seen a computer around here......"

"Oh, ah... here.. my study" he motions for him to follow

Adam follows him.

And there, is a Commodore 64.

Adam blinks. "Uh."

"Does this even work?" He approaches it curiously.

"Why wouldnt it work? Shalimar told me it..." Bachdion winces "I've been tricked haven't I?"

"Maybe? Shalimar gave it to you? Have you turned it on?"

"I'm afraid it will explode now" He jokes "Okay. I am not afraid...but that doesn't mean I'm not a bit worried" he turns it on

and it collaspes and reforms into a state of the art lap top that would make a Gen Zoomer drool!

"Is it supposed to do that?"

Adam's eyes go big. "I don't think so?"

"Do you think it's safe now?"

"One way to find out" he taps it on as best he knows

And it acts like any other new lap top, except apparently an Pomegranate laptop instead of an apple?

Adam shrugs and waits to be given a turn.

And he lets the boy have at "Enjoy."
