Earl returns to his lady love, "Our friend August sends you this letter"

He drops it off, gives her a quick kiss and heads off to do.. .who knows what?

(But now Zara has an IC reason to read that letter. Shadyy will PM the info on it I am sure 🙂 )

As if Zara could resist reading?

A soft grin, and she hastens to get her own ink and stationery!

Of course, she has that nearby

A set from August as a gift from yesteryear included (I THINK so, Shady will have to confirm)

She scribes a careful reply - her calligraphy is delicate, with spidery flourishes, in dark purple ink on lilac paper.

OOC August DOES tend to give paper related gifts so.... yeah, sure.

The letter is folded and sealed with a shimmery dollop of silver wax, stamped with a raven. "Bronte, darling?"

Bronte glides down "Conjure by it at your peril" She lands and bows

An affectionate scritch. "May I ask thee a favor?"

"As you wish" She beams and leans into the skritch

"Would you bear this missive to August?"

She offers her tiny hands to take "When my friends are in need I am not slow. It's hip hip hip and a way I go." Then she confesses "Under dog."

Must be something in the children's section

A soft chuff. "Thank you, darling."

She takes it and flies off, to streak towards....

August is in his office, only to hear "I bear tidings of great joy" And landing in front of him is Bronte, Bookwyrm and keeper of scribes and librarians and writers... and one artist who does book covers.

"Hello, Bronte; welcome, as always..... ah..... how did you get in?"

She blinks innocently. Odd. The door was closed. So how DID she?

Bronte instead offers an elegantly folded letter, stamped with a raven, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?"

August slowly takes the letter, thinking. "Because....wait, I remember reading this one.... The desk is flat and can makes notes... and the raven makes flat notes?"

Bronte considers this for a moment, then says "I also would have accepted 'because Both have inky quills'" but she looks proud of him but motions him to read the letter

He brightens "Actually, yours is much better." with a smile, and he opens the letter to read it.

And smiles, adding a note to the bottom.

Bronte admires the penmanship

He refolds it (an unnecessary gesture) and offers it back. "Would you mind returning a response, dear Bronte?"

"Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most" She takes it and takes flight, taking it back to...

Zara finds the Bookwyrm returning quoting the mailman's code.

"Thank you." as she departs.

"Ahem" Bronte holds out the returned letter to Zara

She takes the response and reads it. "Perfect."

"Cyrano?" She asks

"Mm?"

"Never let your correspondence fall behind? " Then she adds "Lincoln"

A chuckle. "We have our plans, your courier duties are no longer pressing. You may, of course, visit August if you wish."

"Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read." a draconian grin

"You would figure out how to read in the dark, darling." And she turns back to her work.

This is true. And... with a sly look, while no one is watching, she returns to Augusts office to read some of his books there. He has a few after all. And her new gift is...useful. Long before there were pokemon, Bookwyrms were adapting.

But that is HER secret. Others will find out soon enough.
