HOW august is going to solve this, he's not sure. But he has time to think of it.

Shallimar comes up to him "Baron, sign this please." He has a sheet of paper and a pen

He takes the paper with care, and reads it.

It appears to be a declaration of WAR upon Will Smith, for daring to strike a jester in performance

"Ah. Shalimar, you bring up.... you certainly make emphatic points here but this isn't mine to sign." he offers it back.

"Lord Hume said the same" A sigh "He said 'this is not Baron August's to sign' and then he also said he couldn't do it either" A huff "I tell you know, every jester in the world shall mock bad king richard for his afrontery ! His dignity will die from a thousand cutting jibes. I just wanted to make it official" He puts it away

"I've been told what happened."

To no great surprise, he didn't -watch- it.

"Ah, then you know about the rebellion... blood in the streets" A shake of his head "Ah wellk, how fare YOU lord?"

"Ah. Well, wrestling with a bit of an conundrum but.... over all I am well. You?"

"A conundrum? An enigma? A riddle? Mayhaps I could be of some small assistance against this Sphinx?"

August considers it at least, but then slowly shakes his head. "Noooooo....."

"Ah, well" A sigh "I know how it is, no one wants to hang around the smelly kid" BIG eyes

"Ah, no, Shalimar." gently "I think you know better."

A smile and wink "Ah, lord, you rob me of my drama"

"I don't think anyone could do that, Shalimar."

"Neer know, my Baron."

"As you say." he nods.

"Oh, for I forget... better get that birthday gift"

"Birthday?"

"AH, you do remember!" he gives the baron a hasty hug "Mind like a stolen trap."

And he races off happily

August rubs his forehead.

As he rubs, no certain birthdays come to mind. Who is he forgetting? IS he forgetting?

His mind busy, he goes to his study to consult his calendar.

Truth to tell, a suspected birthday is less of a concern for him than his classmate's situation; he looks to his calendar as well to see when he might have time with Coradel.... then he sighs and closes it. No. Best not.

He drums his fingers on the desk as he thinks.

Tappity tappity

A spider looks in and taps back in morse 'ARE YOU OKAY?'

One assumes a wee spider in the doorway might have trouble being noticed, but one on the desk or the back of an arm could tap more effectively.

"Mm?" August seems startled to see the spider there "What was that?"

'You tapped' it taps back

"I... ah. Sorry, no, I was.... thinking."

'Oh. Well, let us know if you need help. the lady of whispers wants us to look out for you'

That makes a soft smile crease his lips. "Ah." a whisper "Thank you. That is good to know."

A long pause 'perhaps I spoke too freely, but you are welcome'

"We will keep it between ourselves." he murmurs.

a gentle tapping 'ever so kind' the tone is sincere, and it says something that he's been tapped at enough to get tones

"Only too happy to be remembered so."

'Well earned' and she gives a kind of arachnid curtsey and withdraws

The smile stays on his lips, and his finger tips trace the wood of the table as he drifts back to his thoughts.

Well, life moves merrily on here at Earth Runes. Quirky and weird , and.. above all, loving

August ponders that as he tries to find his way through.

He's changed, he knows. Was a time he might have viewed Alexis's means of support the way Mrs. Shaw does. He doesn't, now; it's not for him, of course, but she is doing what she must, and well enough to earn her way. That's laudable.

And her options, at least options that yield as much maybe hard to come by. Of course, Alexis is facing consequences, even if they are unjust ones

but yes, this does make him wonder how much he has changed.

"You look thoughtful, if I may say so" Ivory observes , the Paler born Liam has brought in some tea "Delores thought you might want some tea?"

He looks up, blinking. "Ah, Sir... thank you. Yes, most welcome. Will you join me?" politely.

"Surely" he joins him, the albino takes a seat
