Velvet isn't talking to Tylar. And Tylar is confused on how to make it right "But Jane Eyre really IS boring" He tells his liege

August winces.

"To you, perhaps, Tylar. But to say it in such a way might indicate that you question Velvet's taste in literature, or find her interests boring.... or find -her- boring."

"NO I mean.. I adore her. I know it sounds crazy but sometime's it's nice just sitting next to her doing nothing. But what should I lie if she asks my favorite part of it?"

August sighs the sigh of the woefully honest. "It is a difficult line to walk. Think diplomatically. Something like '.... I'm not sure I have one; I might need to reread it to gain a full appreciation of the work."

"But I'm not going to reread it," he says "I would rather chew glass, at least that Emma can fix"

"Did I say I was going to reread it?"

"No, but Velvet would see it tthat way and worse, she'd have a quiz later"

"There.... -is- another alternative. It is a bit more... fraught."

"I should say there are more than one alternative, and there is another I can think of."

"Yes?"

"You could ask her what her favorite parts are in return, or before she asks you, and you could ask her to explain the text. In detail."

"Well, that could get boring but... she'd be happy" he ponders

"That's the hard part, Tylar. You must be sincere. She will know if you are not, and worse, -you- will know if you are not."

He nods "SOmetimes she's...veyr prickly"

August equivocates "Let's say she's correctly particular about some things."

A tilt of his head "Did you start law school in order to deal with women better, Lord? Or is it merely a perk?"

Then he blushes "pardon I... I'm very distracted and that may have slipped out"

August chuckles. "I'm not offended, Tylar. No, that is not why I am studying law. Remember, I'm not in law school, not yet. Perhaps never. Right now, I'm in a paralegal course."

"Oh, right. I Just.. I don't know always how to move around her ...correctly particular nature. Sometimes I wish there were warning signs"

"I think perhaps there are, but you must be very observant. You must study."

He nods "I think you're right. I use decorum all the time at court, i should take care to learn it for her too. She's worth the time and effort"

August smiles gently. "That is an excellent step on the way to success in this, Tylar."

"Thanks, Baron I ... I jus sometimes wish I were better at it. I mean, when do you get to be an expert on girls?"

"You don't."

"How do you explain Vince? or sir bachdion?"

"I don't." wryly "They are forces of nature. And Fiona. And we are not. The House of Wisdom stands bereft in the face of the Fairer Sex."

"oh sure, now that I've joined you tell me" a smile though "thanks, Baron. I.. I feel better. I'll try to be a good boyfriend"

"That is all you ever need do, Tylar."

"Thanks, Baron" He bows

August nods correctly. "Most welcome, Tylar. And.... God speed."

A nod, he takes a breath, and heads off
