"Well, if the creature is well behaved, what harm is there?" Pondering.

A small smile at the names.

"I didn't say there was any harm in it."

"But if you were involved, I am curious to know why."

"Tis my own court here, the Court of Cats, of which I am rightly King. As any of my subjects, I so decree, should any naughtiness come about by the four-footed felines, shall it be as unto me. By my tail and ears, I deem it so!"

Raising his glass in a toast.

"Ah." Nonplussed, August lifts his teacup.

Jack looks amused "You saying yiou own the cats?"

"A king does not own his people." August corrects gently.

"This is true.. i just wanted to bust goldy's chops a little' A tost though

August sips his own drink, and looks through the papers he brought with him.

He selects a few and reads, making notes.

Jack says "So, vincee has arranged a catmeeting for the nw girl. Hows' she working out, August?"

He chuckles and sips his beer. Thoughtful on this question, and he finally settles on, "It seems that she could use a friend."

Jack says "mm really? She doesn't seem as athletic as Leo, or Temerity, but then who is? Maybe she needs more academic companionship"

August looks up. "I took her to learn what she could of her mortal host."

Jack says "That had to be rough on her. If she's got any heart at all"

"Academics, tis my middle name." He says, a little sheepishly. "If only someone more scholarish wouldst take her under wing."

"Sir Almandine is working with her. "

"He's good for teaching, but teacher's got to keep a distance"

August looks up from his notes again. "Gentlemen... are you suggesting myself for such a role?"

"Not sure.." Jack says "But.. maybe?"

"I am not certain she would be open to it." Mildly.

"Yeah, your house gets kicked around a lot" he nods

"Anyoen else you'd suggest though? Because you seem closer than most"

He tilts his head. "Will she not find her own friends?"

Jack shrugs "Maybe.. but who is around her to be friends with? "

"There is an entire court." reasonably "Gentlemen, I never dreamed for myself that I would have the support, relationships, and place that I have now. Da'an will have its way. She is welcome here, has a mentor and such resources as she wishes, and she will have mortal family as well."

"I suggest but nothing, my liege."

A flourished bow.

Jack shrugs

"Well, " Jack chuckles "Vince, I blame you fur the lull. Everyone knows the Baron and I aren't the talkers in the hold"

“The only talk I focus on is Pillow, all know.” He responds primly. Hiding a grin behind his drink.

"Doesn't that lead you to being a little.. down in the mouth?"

A chortle and a slap in the shoulder for Jack. “Indeed!”

August winces good-naturedly at the puns.

"I thinkMinerva will be well. There is steel in her."

“As long as it’s within, and not attached to a hilt.”

“Not that there is any fear of that.” He adds.

"mmm so far she seems to be less than interesated in the sword stuff, but that's for her mentor to push or not." Jack nods "Pennons soon. Get a chance to show my new brew for the brewer's contest"

“Ooooh? Perhaps we must test it in advance.”

"I don't know, Vince,can you keep a secret?" Jack says

“I Wouldst! And Couldst! And none shall believe should I not!”

"So can I" Jack smirks

August chuckles a little.

"Love you Vince, but I don't want any chance of this getting out too soon"

He gawks at Jack, then snaps his mouth closed. “Thou hast made a dire enemy this day.” Tail swishes!

Jack chuckles "Like you don't have a recipie you'll be trotting out too"

Innocent look. “I canst, and wouldst, plead the fifthst.”
