"Well, there we go then, frankly I was seeing you as the ace in the hole anyway" Magnus says "I think we've got a good start and a few things to set in motion. Anything else or a break for now?"

"Is... is there anything I can do to help? I will speak with Coradel about her unit here in the County."

"Sir Carowyn and Sir Frank if you think they need to be told or in on it" he reminds "Carowyn will obey you as Banner House Lord"

August nods. "The Baroness of Rivervale should be aware if we are encouraging actions in her lands."

"Just outside her lands but yes"

"Still in the Duchy" he reminds.

August nods.

"A break then... Miss Zara. I see why August brings my news to you" He rises "And I know you are discrete. If you and father will excuse me... I need to go talk to my wife"

August stands and offers his hand. "Good to see you, Magnus."

"Aye, a break. And it seems we are well suited to move forward."

Magnus shakes his fahter's then pats his father on the back

Until Anon's made, August starts cleaning up.

And Magnus bows to both, and heads out

August pauses and glances at Zara. "You are pleased?"

"I think so."

"I will be pleased when this trio ceases to threaten so many..."

He nods. "As will I." He picks up the tray. "Is there... ah, anything else I can do?"

"No... but, August?"

"Yes, Zara?" He stops, watching her.

She smiles. "Thank you, for being so considerate of my comfort. I know I can be.. ah... difficult."

He smiles, tender and caring. "You're very welcome. You are no difficulty to me." Sincerely.

"Still. I appreciate the.. ah.. buffer?"

He nods, understanding with a hint of amusement. "Of course."

A faint pink flush and a shrug.

Another warm smile, and he takes the tray away.

Zara flits off to shelve some books.

In the stables, Coradel removes Samson's saddle after a good ride. She sets to brushing him out and giving him water.

.... and catches sight of August waiting at the barn door, watching.

When she notices him, she gives him a warm smile as she continues her work. "Stalking me?"

"No." A pause. "Would you, ah, like me to?"

A soft laugh. "Maybe sometime, when I'm not expecting it. Could be interesting." She finishes with Samson and gives him a fond pet. "Thank you for the ride," she murmurs to the horse and kisses his nose.

August waits for her.

And soon enough she is claiming his hand and a kiss from his lips.

Which she is given willingly.

"I had a meeting today; may we speak of it?"

"Of course, if you'll escort me to find a nice pot of tea."

"My pleasure." And he does; it is too cool and rainy to be entirely comfortable in the garden, but there's a favored nook with a water-spattered view of the gardens that is soon supplied with tea and treats.

August pours.

"Lovely," Coradel approves. "So...tell me." She takes up her cup, inhales appreciatively, and sips.

He clears his throat. "Ah. Well. Firstly, although it's unlikely Count Jude has been compromised, there will be a... ah, subtle investigation. That is, it will be looked into."

"Well, I should hope so. I'm glad to hear it." Said with all the satisfaction of a woman who has gotten her way. Another sip. "I hope for his sake he has been compromised or overpowered. If he did this on his own and willingly...well...I'll have some things to say. But I'll let you have your investigation first."

"Thank you." Dryly.

"Do you still wish involvement?"

She smiles and sets down her cup and looks at him. Then the smile fades slightly. "Oh. You meant that as an actual question."

He nods.

A pause, then drawn out, "Yyyyyyeeeeeesssssss." Clearly, it should be obvious.

"There is reason to believe that we will need a team in this County. The trafficking train runs through Grass, and while it does not run through EarthRunes, we may need help in the area."

Brows lift slightly, lips purse a moment, and then she very precisely says, "Mine."
