here she is, in a bastion of knowledge, of librams of lore she has assembled, and they withhold knowledge? They conspire!

She sulks over Chaucer.

Chaucer would understand. More than understand, he would eviscerate the conspirators in fiction!

Indeed!

Oh, she shall brood over this, she and Chaucer.

“Forbid Us Something and That Thing we Desire." Zara quotes. "Aye indeed..."

The library door opens and August walks in, fidgeting with a calligraphy pen and muttering with a frown. He stares at it as he walks to the library desk and gets into 'his' drawer, searching.

A pause, and Zara sliiides under the table.

Chaucer, however, is still open beside a cup of tea.

"C'mon... there you are...." he straightens, pleased, and works on his pen with a tool he found in there.

Dark eyes peer at the sidhe.

Something stubborn in there.....

She scoots around to behind a shelf... better to emerge from there than the table when the moment calls.

"Ha!" With satisfaction.

A silent eyebrow.

"Where....." he rumages again and comes up with ink. He's testing it.

"What art thou working upon?"

August jerks, and ink spatters. "Darn it!" He looks around, then grins, relaxing. "Hi Zara." Glad to see her. "This pen had clogged up somehow."

"Ah. Difficulties, surely."

"I think I've got it now." He tests it again, nods, and sets to wiping it dry and putting away the stuff.

"What scroll worketh thou? May I see it?"

"Ahhhhhhhh......." A pause. "Well. It's, ah, it's a bit of work for Sir Bachdion." He flushes as he explains, clearing his throat. "I, ah, I wanted to offer him work, as a gift, for the .... as a gift and... it's a bit, ah, racy."

"Truly?"

He nods. "I wouldn't usually but Bachdion.... well... it's complicated." He looks a bit miserable.

"Indeed. Satyrs can be."

"Seen thou Earl of late?"

"Mmmm... no? Not since... well, a week or so?" He thinks.

"Indeed."

August nods, then stops, concerned. "Is he missing?" Hearing a call to battle.

"No. He is not."

"....Yet."

"Good, well, wait, yet?" Whiplash.

"Well, he is plotting."

"He's -what-??"

"Scheming!"

"Some grand conspiracy. The boggans are in on it."

A concerned frown. "Zara.... are you feeling ok?" He comes over and sits next to her.

"What are the planning? I said I did not wish a birthday party..."

August's jaw drops.

"It.." She frowns. "I do not. Birthdays... it... I don't want a party, no."

He puts his hand near hers. "I understand." Gently. "Do you want me to tell him?"

"I told him I didn't wish a birthday. But surely, they are planning something..."

"If you told him, if Earl knows that, he won't do it."

"Aye. And yet?"

"Ah. Yet?"

"Yet there is plotting."

"Know you what is happening?"

August freezes for a moment.

"You know what we need? Tea. I'll get some." He stands and heads out.

A flustered sigh.
