"Thanes are, often seen as interchangeable. they are warriors who are good enough to patrol and defend, but do not have the abmition to seek knighthood or the like. When the old Baron ruled, he was firm, fair, and distant. The nobles now? yourself, your daughter, and the baroness? They TALK to them... they ask them how they are doing. The Baroness is not the most aware noble I've seen, no disrespect. But she is almost nonchallant in her kinndess. Love comes before duty for her..and she allows much. Is your child ill? go home. You want to swap shifts? Quite fine... 'oh,so and so... how is your wife? Your mother is ak niann hardo n her luck? yes she can work our kitchens' and so on. she often forgets she does this... it's not high on her priorities, but the thanes notices her, and Derywnydd, and you... and so on. They notice that they are treated as if they have lives outside the hold-which they do. And this makes them grateful."
