Wednesday, a young Sidhe knight wakes with a smile on his face in the great king-sized bed of the Baroness of EarthRunes, and touches the pillow beside him briefly before he leaps out and hits the bathroom.
A short time later, he bounds into the kitchen for a quick breakfast, complimenting the staff on the excellent work they do. He races out to the garden, seeking the trod there. He spends some time talking with the guards there, ensuring they have multiple ways to contact him, and instructions about doing so, and then it's off to work at the pool.
He greets his mortal co-workers jovially and takes his seat as the pool opens. All day long, he watches protectively as those of all ages enjoy the respite from sun and heat. He grabs lunch from the pool concessions, eating with a group of other pool employees. He is quiet, but he -listens- to them. Before the end of his lunch, he makes a phone call.
At the end of the day he showers and changes; another quick phone call before heading out to check on a few mortals and drop off some supplies to a homeless shelter. While there, he checks in with a few of the temporary residents and promises a little extra the next time he's through. As he trots out to the car he makes a quick call and then drives back to the manor.
He visits the trod again, in an upbeat humor before going in to a communal meal with the members of the household. He smiles and chats with those at dinner. Afterwards he heads back out to the trods with a stack of work to review, double-checking the efforts his squires made in the library. He settles in the grass with a tree at his back, and goes over the library indexing cards, handy to the rath.
Time passes, as it has all day. Eventually, it's too dark to work. He waits still, enjoying the warm night air with a soft smile on his lips. He tucks the library work into his shirt pocket.
Full dark, the stars are out, the moon shines; not a full moon, anymore, but generous. The temperature starts to drop slightly, but it's not enough to even adjust the coverage his voile gives him.
And so he waits.
As light begins to rise in the east, the young man is still there by the tree, waiting. His chin rests on his chest, eyes shut, the rise and fall of his chest rocking him gently. Slowly, the light and bird song rouses him, and he wakes.
It takes a disoriented moment, then he rolls to his feet and over to the single thane on duty. They speak briefly and in his case, excitedly.
The two Fae are still, he takes another moment, again disoriented, and he shakes his head, speaking more forcefully and energetically.
The thane slowly, solumnly, shakes his head in the negative. No.
August takes a step backwards, as his expression clouds. Then he turns away and walks back to the mansion and inside, his forehead lined and his eyes worried. The door shuts softly behind him.
