"Monster or not, I have granted you Safe Haven. If you do anything to jeopardize the welfare of others during your stay, my wrath will be...quite a sight." Understatement with only the slightest taste of humor.

August returns! He has a small smile on his lips.

He nods very slightly to Coradel.

"I most sincerely and deeply take that at your word, lady. If you believe nothing else of me, beileve that." A pause, "I suppose it might be a breach of trust, but Norm apparently wet himself when you ..."

then August comes in and he inclines his head quieting.

"Ah, August..." His smile draws one from her as well. "I trust your discussion was fruitful?"

Hand on his heart, he bows. "It was, My Lady."

She inclines her head in response. "Do you wish to share, or shall we discuss further in private?"

She looks past him to see if Vince follows.

Vince follows alongside August, still looking slightly befuddled, his hands clasped lightly behind his back as he stands at ease.

He rises. "In private, if it please My Lady."

"Should I retire for the night? "

"It does, though i hope Vince will join us in that discussion. Herald Inish, would you please ask the Steward to show Mr. Layton to a room for his Haven stay. He is not to be permitted to speak to Norm without an escort -- preferably Sir Sergei or Warder Ludmilla -- and is not to be permitted physical contact with his client at all. " Then a nod to the boggan. "Yes, I think that best."

He simply nods to the lady, watching the boggan with quiet interest.

The boggan is an older fellow, Matlock in minature.

The Herald says "This way, Mister Layton" Delores says when Inish returns with her. She loosk curious, but is a great professional

August waits until the boggan is -well- gone. He glances at Vince, then to Coradel with a small smile.

"Tell me you found something?"

And yes, the boggan is gone

"A few things." He offers her the book. "It's interesting what -isn't- there, as well."

"Blond, brunette, redhead..."

She takes it with some distaste, but flips through it. "Please explain, I'm not patient enough to puzzle it out right now."

"No mention of a lawyer."

"Hm. Well, that is interesting. But any evidence that he knew he had a pooka? Or...has he used fae before?"

It sure has info on folks who bet! Lots of folks. A few better positioned in mortal society than you'd expect. Also suppliers for dog food, drugs and steroids for the dogs, and yes, even dogs to raise. Also, a supplier of animals; a jack ass working at a vet office and a 'corrupt exec at a shelter.

"Not that I have seen yet, but I plan to read it and copy it." Gently.

"I'll do it tonight." Firmly.

"And copy his documents."

She nods, sighing, and hands back the book. "We need to question him. He was able to resist my Dictum last time...perhaps that was simply luck..." A frown.

"Shall my visit to the vet wait,then?" A cough into his hand. "I fear I am feeling sickly."

August smiles. "Ask the Countess to send Dame [N-nameIcan'tremember]. I'm sure she'd be glad to visit and help us out with this." He speaks of the Gwydion knight formerly of EarthRunes.

She nods, "Nansaidh would certainly help, if the Countess gives leave. And yes, we will find all those listed here and...address the matter."

"We will." He promises.

A grin to Vince. "Whatever you do, do not step outside of Escheat. We are on difficult territory here...the lawyer is claiming his client did not know he had a pooka there."

A thoughtful look. "Perhaps he did not."

"Nonsense." With utter certainty.

"If he did not, then he was criminally negligent. If he did, then he's violated the Escheat."

"And only one of those is under my court's purview. My intent is to put him under a strong Geas to uphold the Escheat and defend the defenseless. I cannot do it myself, though."

"I have... some insight. To the Kith." He offers in a murmur. "If it will help."

A slow blink. "And if the Dame shall pronounce him innocent of the crimes of fae, if not those mortally repugnant?"

"At the very least, he is not innocent of threatening me with mortal death. If we cannot get him on anything else, we can at least punish him for that."

"I would much rather find the proof that he knew that he had a pooka."

"A Lord or Lady is the ruler of their domain. They are judge and jury over all crimes, large or small and their word is law." He quotes.

"My concern, though, is that Mr. Layton may try to pass him a charm or cantrip him to be able to resist Dictum."

August nods agreement with Coradel's concern.

"I will rule by law, August, not by whim....otherwise, my people will turn against me. Oh, not in this case...the crime against a childling is too great...but in the future they might distrust."
