His foe has stopped

August makes hssi way out only to find his wife has a blade ready to shovee through a redcap's face

Panting, he arrives and assesses the situation.

His wife may actually be keeping Ludmilla from finishing the 'Cap off.

Indeed, Ludmilla seems ready to kill him. the redcap, for his part? Lunges forward and.. bites at Coradel's treasured sword!

Vince might have worked faster in less hectic circumstances - but there is chaos. As one misguided dog snarls at him, he turns away, refusing to even use the flat of his paw on the beasts, even if attacked. Rather, any humans that he notice bearing signs of dog fighting (scarred hands, holding leashes, trying to catch the dogs) he redoubles on, not pulling back with claws and teeth ripping at them until they cease to flee.

August brings the hilt of his sword down on the redcap's head to get his attention.

August's action is what reminds her of Escheat...for she was just about to happily shove the sword through the back of the 'Cap's head.

What happens is this, the Cap lunges forward, August brings his hilt down, but the Cap's teeth catch the blade of Coradel and bite her precious item in twain!

August's blow smashes him to the ground unconcious

And inside, someone screams "They have a lion! Oh god!"

August reverses his blade and holds it to his throat, ready to......

She stares at what's left of her blade for a moment, then screams and is about to hack at him with what's left of it.

"One two three four, no longer will we be dogs of war. Five six seven eight, we don't bite each other, jus what's on our plate" As the Dictum on the dogs calms them and has them march out

And someone grabs coradel's weapon arm, "He's not worth your honor" Claire says "My lady, he's not worth your honor"

It seems like a close call for August as well, but he holds, posture straining.

Coradel stares at Claire, wild-eyed and furious, fighting her grip at first....then comes back from her rage with a mighty effort.

August is watching for a twitch, a breath, -something- that could be considered an excuse.....

"I have Isis and Sergie has the other animals, is everyone ok?"

August comes back even more slowly than Coradel, easing off one muscle at a time.

Vince comes stalking out, panting - the stench of smoke clinging to his mane, and jaws and claws both red with blood. Strangely, the chaos has died down to nearly nothing now - the dogs sitting intent on Sergei, and none of the dog handlers seem to be around.

"Bind him...and bring him. He will face our court.

He moves towards the redcap on the ground, the one that smells of dogs and blood, surrounded by the fae of EarthRunes...

"Yes, baroness" CLaire said obediently.

"I wasn't scared, I was't scared"Isis is crying and flies into Coradel's hands once she can

Coradel clutches the little girl close. She doesn't say a word, but carries her to the car and holds her all the way back until the can get her to her bed.

August backs away as Vince takes the redcap's custody. He picks up the pieces of her blade, and wraps an arm around Coradel (and Isis) to guide them back to the car.

He drives them back carefully, and after the pooka is cared for he will see to the Baroness personally.

And so it ends... Isis rescued and in Coradel's arms. The baroness having lost a treasure unless she can repair it. August guiding them back. Vince with notes that will serve him well in the future to demonstrate the dangers of abusing wildlife.

Sergei taking pity on a miserable dog most would put down but he will try to provide for, and a dog that has not yet been ruined.

(Pending ST confirmation - ) The fire department will find that most of the participants are unconscious - smoke, perhaps, or knocked out in the chaos of trying to flee the fire? But the handlers seem worse off. Perhaps the dogs freaked out and savaged them in the terror of the moment - but they are torn up - damn, that was some big dog. Not one of the pit bulls found here tonight - one of the handlers must have got the larger one away, eh?

The Redcap is indeed kept in custody - one strong arm wrapped across his throat all the way, holding him where he cannot reach to bite. And if he has trouble breathing and spends part or all of the trip 'napping'? Oh, well.

OOC: COnfirmed.

BIC: And Ludmilla is breathing heavily and calming. Clare is in Duty guard mode, even if she realizees how close things came to ..well. And she doesn't seem to object much to the cap's rough treatment from a pooka. She's done her seelie bit for Baroness and Fief.

Later, Isis will assure others of how she had to save everyone, but, it'll be a bit before she gets there.
