Coradel leafs through the stack of forms August has left on a table in their room. "They all ask for the same things?"

The knocking on the door is timid

She shakes her head at the papers and goes to answer the door, looking out. "Yes?"

"Yes. And repeatedly."

A small boy looks up, Enri

"Oh! Hello, Enri." She crouches down to be on his level. "How are you today?"

"A burden" He looks up with scared eyes

She frowns a bit. "You...have a burden, or you are a burden?"

August glances over.

A nod, "My yellow stripe, I'm color blind so I can't see it. the monster got Isis"

"A monster? What monster?" A quick glance to August, then back.

August approaches, and kneels. "Hello, 'Enri." Quietly.

"the monster tried to get me, she was brave and pulled out her best sabre stroke.. I know we weren't supposed to be out of the hold when the wardens are away at paris but she was curious then we met that guy while we were all fours."

August glances at Coradel and rises, retrieving his golden-centipede sword and buckling it on.

It's true, Ludmilla and theo ther warder are not on duty. The children were supposed to be INSIDE at this time of night

She frowns. "Lead us to where you saw her last...and the monster."

"You have your things?" He murmurs as he gathers a cloak for each of them and settles hers on her shoulders.

Enri nods, and heads towards the outside, they must have slipped out as a puppy and kitten, because the thanes are very good about keeping an eye out for the kids. And the troll and piskie warders are kind but observant

She stands and holds up her hands to indicate her bracelets. "I travel light, you know that." She smiles briefly in gratitude for the cloak, then follows the boy.

"I do." Softly, and he follows her.

"Enri, how long ago did this happen?"

A pause, and he starts to count his fingers repeatedly, then "Seven hours ago.'

A sigh. "Sorry. It doesn't matter."

"It's ok, 'Enri. Just show us."

Enri circles arond their legs and comes out the other side as an adorable poodle puppy, he sniffs, and heads down the hill towards the road.

A brief smile, but then she's serious again as she follows.

They soon come to a tire mark! new treads in the mud of recent rains

August frowns at them, looking up and down the road.

"Enri, she was four-footed when she was taken?" Coradel looks at the tire treads.

"Once for yes, twice for no."

He barks three times and whines

August sighs. "Should we send 'Enri back in and take a look?"

She nods. "Enri, we will search for her. Go back to the Manor right away."

"Let Vince know what has happened." August adds.

"Yes," she agrees, nodding to August.

Coradel finds of all things, a note pad, two thirds caked in mud.

The pad catches her eye. "Wait, what is..." She plucks it out of the mud, wiping the dirt from it delicately.

August steps over, also looking at it.

She tries to see if she can make out any writing or marks on it.

A brief list : 'B. Dog got away, took stupid cat. won't last long. Doubt Rosh make it past another night' 'ps: Don't forget call Norm. 555-6466 make sure show is a go'

Coradel scowls, and abruptly gives the pad of paper a kiss firm enough to leave a lipstick mark.

The magic flows, and it grows ready to tell her what she wants to know- she hopes

"Who wrote the words on you? And where was he or she at the time of the writing?"

"cashgrabber dognabber, make em fight over every bone, got a common name goes by Andrew Jones. Wrote it out here, tried to grab a pup then stupid kitten clawed him and fucked it all up "

She looks to August, eyes wide. "He took her when he couldn't get Enri." Then a sudden thought, and she tries to get another answer out of the paper, "Who is Rosh?"

"Why 'Enri?" murmured, but then he hushes to get more information.

"Bait and bitten, beaten down. to make other dogs mean, you need a bottom hound. Rosh is the least, a baitdog with no teeth. Gonna probably die soon, death is his release"
