Colton looks about left, and right, as he stealths towards his liege's room with the box

The box shuffles and moves

"I have to make sure she's not there..."

a soft opening of the door, and he peeks in, ready to close it if he sees her

At the moment, she's working through a pile of paperwork in the great hall. Or so Delores would report.

He slips into the room, and sets the box down carefully. It has a large bow on it, and holes, so many large holes.

"Shhh, it won't be long. Promise."

Sign off on a paper, sigh, flip to a new one...

the box bounces, but these wrappings keep solid

"Okay, Okay. relax. She'll love you. I hope she loves you. Yeah, she'll love you. "

She stretches, going for a little walkabout the Hall.

as she walks down by her room she hears, "stop bouncing shush. just be patient"

Her wings perk and she stops, listening.

some sort of muffled animal sound from her room

A frown, and she opens the door.

"Hello?"

"uhm, hi" Colton is in her room, and there's something behind him. he's sitting in front of it. "I thought you were busy with paperwork"

"I need to stretch my legs."

"...what's that behind you?" She leans, peering at the box.

There's a large bow on it, and holes...something inside the box goes tappity tappity as if something inside were hitting the sides of it from the inside

She raises an eyebrow. "Colton?"

"Tell you what, close your eyes, and count to ten, and then when you open your eyes, you can open the box?"

"Well, alright." And she closes her eyes. "One, two..."

And something rushes past her and closes the door.

"...nine, ten!" Eyes open!

There's just the box, with a large bow on it, making excited tappity tappity sounds again...

then, a wuff

She covers her mouth with her hand, expression odd - not a smile or a frown, but somehow both? "Oh, Colton..."

The sidhe takes a few steps, crossing over to pull the lid from the box.

She laughs. "Oh, you did. Yes, hello puppy! Oh... oh no..." the puppy is scooped up in her arms, and tears leak from her eyes. "Yes, you are very cute. Hello."

The wriggly little puppy 's tail flies fast and furious and more puppy kisses go wild. A fae labby! He found one!

There is also a note!

"Cole! Are you out there?"

She sits on the bed with the pup, letting him free so she can read the note.

The note reads I have no name of my own, could give you give me one and share your home? I'm a puppy just for you. And my heart is always true. And if you think the situation's dire, always remember- trust your squire. He knew we'd make a terrific team, an owner like you is my dream

She's not crying. The room is dusty!

A voice from outside , a boggan "No ma'am, he shot out fast chanting something about 'she can't say no ifI'm not there whatever that means"

"I'm not saying no."

"Oh, I don't know how I'll keep you, but you are precious..." she rumples the pup's ears.

Oh the puppy likes that, oh lean lean lean....danger of falling over

The boggan's voice, "Miss Chancellor? You want me to fetch your squire for you?"

"Tell him it's safe, yes."

Scritch scritch scritch. "You're just a baby, aren't you?"

A short time later, a knock "You wanted me my liege?" The squire makes a note to himself that the staff seems to have figured out his favorite places.
