"Zara..." With her hand in his, warm and caring. "... even if we didn't know each other in Arcadia, or Before... we know each other now. And you are important to me now." Sincerely. "I know it's been... crazy... look, if I ever don't pay attention when or where I need to, you tell me, ok?"

"But we d-..." She stops herself, and nods. "Aye."

"Tell me."

"I... when we went to the Dreaming, to find the Cyclops... it..." She hesitates. "I remember you."

Amazed, delighted. "You do?" Eager. "Will you tell me?"

"I... I had a River. My River. And I could watch thee from it...."

He draws her to sit with him, listening closely, intently.

"I remember my River fondly. Of course. It was my home. And... and I... I scryed for thee. Was a soothsayer, even then."

"But of course, you had... Coradel, and many duties, and... much, aye, to occupy. You were the lord of the land."

"You... " A gentle smile. "... of course you did. Thank you." Encouraging more revelations.

"I.... most of it is fuzzy. It's easier, in the Dreaming. But... but I knew you." A pause. "I'm sorry. I'm not sure why I... I'm sorry."

"Oh, I understand!" He flashes a smile. "I know.....in the Dreaming, so much is easier to understand. Coradel and I.... we Quested especially to learn, and -remember.- I didn't even know you could do that, but... we did."

"You can find anything in the Dreaming, I think..."

An easy grin. "Awesome idea. If I could.... Wouldn't it be great to see if we could get to Alexandria before the Fire?"

"Oh! Aye! Though we must take Bronte. I fear she would never forgive me, otherwise..."

"She's wonderful." Agreed.

"She is. Technically, she is Earl's..."

"She is?" Delighted. "Oh, I envy him. Is he here?" He looks around, like you could miss a troll in the room....

"But I suspect, in the end, she will be her own dragon. You can't own a sentient being..." She follows his gaze. "Earl was working on a show this weekend..."

"After Carnival and all, of course." Grey lips quirk in a little smile. "We went on an adventure."

"You did?" Another grin. "Tell me?"

"We went to Tara Nar." A happy sigh.

WIDE eyes. "You... did?" Deeply impressed.

"Well, if there is ANY night to go without an invitation... Carnival means hospitality, nu?"

"Besides, it was Purim. Esther visits the king on Purim." Another quirk of her mouth, amused.

There is a rustling outside the library door.

She tilts her head, listening.

it is the sound of sneaking. Yes, it sounds distinctly like sneaking? No, not sneaking, the cadence is more agressive-stalking. Something is stalking something and moving closer.

August smiles, warm all over. "Of course! What happened?"

"We danced. I had a lovely tea. I did see him..."

the library door cracks open, and a vibrant eye peeks through the crack

"-Him?-"

"Him. Aye. I recognized him - Ravens have keen eyes."

So impressed. "Wow. Zara." He leans closer. "What was he like?"

There's a helmet, childling sized, glinting as the eye looks around.

"Sad." Said gently, with compassion.

yup, the little girl slips in. Of course, August might recognize her in Catir. She appears to be outfited in small armor with spear and net and shield.

Zara raises an eyebrow... and the shadows of the library creep and gloom.

She takes a deep breath, resolving herself, and readies to stab at a shadow if it takes the right form

His expression sobers. "Sad. Of course. And Carnivale... forced to play the fool." A deep breath, slow exhale, a nod.

Catir's eyes search the book shelves, behind them, measuring the larger spaces first.

"Aye, but fools can be wise. And he seemed...." She trails off, dark eyes watching the childling like a hawk.

"Seemed what?" Engrossed with what Zara's saying. "Carnivale here was..." a slow blush starts. "... it was... well, it wasn't like at the Hollows. I mean. I told Coradel I'd play fool instead of her but she insisted and.... well, she was much better at it than I would have been." He admits sheepishly.

Then Catir's gaze falls on Bronte, at first determination, then... surprise. Then disappointment.

"He seemed at peace, if melancholy..." She tenses, protective instincts rising. Bronte is asleep - somewhere between custard dragons and Brothers Karamazov.

The young Gwydion sighs and speaks up, "Excuse me? Is there a larger dragon somewhere around here?"

"Well, Cora has never been made the foll from malice. That would make it easier, I think."

"Well, that's...." He stops and looks around.
